You know how else came from TCU? The taters' OC... he also had similar numbers and awards when they signed him. NO THANK YOU. Lets keep looking.
Briles is NOT garret Riley. He’s turned every offense he’s ever coached into a top offense drastically.

When I first saw the rushing stats, that was a red flag to me. But then I read this article, BEFORE you posted it and felt much better, Briles inherited the OL coach who came to TCU with Dykes from SMU. The OL coach is Dykes guy,

One positive, he inherited the crappy OL, and ran up a bunch of passing stats to try and compensate for the lack of running game.

And what will he inherit if he comes here? Not to be a debbie downer, but Briles might be jumping from one frying pan to another.
We need OL, we need RBs, we might need a fresh start at QB, right?

Oh yeah. Im saying he may very well inherit the same thing here. It could be a positive that he adapted to similar circumstances at another school.

Dunno what his run game schemes are, but Shawn Elliott's zone blocking/run schemes helped us win a lot of games once upon a time.

Not completely sold on our OLINE coaching staff. It's probably a combo of coaching and recruiting shortcomings.

To anyone having concern, I would point out that Briles has been Offensive Coordinator at:

Baylor for his Dad, Art;
Florida Atlantic for Lane Kiffin;
Houston;
Florida State;
Arkansas and
TCU.

If his production and reputation was similar to Satterfield/Loggains/Shula, would he have been hired over and over and over again as Offensive Coordinator? I don't think so.

Briles or Cronic sound good to me. Looks like he had a ā€œCo-offensive coordinatorā€ at TCU? I’ve never been a fan of that since Brad Scott had that here and there were issues between the Co-OC’s from what I remember. I’m sure Briles would rather have solo title which he obviously would.

TCU fans seem relieved he might leave

Hopefully it's not like when Nebraska "stole" Satterfield from us.

The guy has other history beyond TCU, so I think its safe to say he'd be the best OC hire Shane has ever made. But thats like winning a height contest in a room full of midgets.

Two plusses: Briles has been nominated for the Broyles Award in the past.

And some are blaming the OL coach at TCU for the poor rushing attack during the past 3 years.
Their rushing attack was better then ours according to espn stats.plus there Qb was top5 and there receiver top 5.

Don't forget we struggled with OL when we had Wolfie. Wolfie went to 'Bama and was just hired by Kiffen/LSU (away from UK).

But also consider scheme. I don't know what we were running with Shula, but the zone blocking scheme that Elliott brought from App St, is what helped Marcus do so well, especially our red zone run game.

That zone run game plus the HBC's Fun'n'Gun passing game was bread and butter for us.

Obviously we need a better offensive line.
However, I noticed a difference this year when Shawn Elliott took over for Teasly.
The false starts were not as frequent and I think we had fewer sacks.

This is the best coaching news I have heard regarding /concerning South Carolina since SOS broke.
To me this is a coup. This guy is a coaching talent. I can't believe SB is bringing in a talent like this....but I guess he figures it's now or never for being upstaged? This is GREAT NEWS.....and I hope it actually happens. This changes a whole lot.
Yes-it'll help recruiting....but with his offense you don' t HAVE to have the elite players to score points, be explosive and stay on the field.

Maybe recommended by Donati, coming from TCU- and if it becomes official we probably know who our interim head coach is if Shane is shown the door.

But you do need a QB who is an accurate mid-range passer. Here's hoping we have one in the cupboard if this ends up being who comes to town.
