I guess you could make it a math problem.

add up the seed numbers of the people you beat. The higher the number, the easiest path.

Iowa beat a 1 so their number likely would not be historically high. The only thing they avoided was a 2 seed really.

The easiest path would be teams that didn’t have to play a two or a one seed.

“Perceived” quality of opponents won’t hold up when comparing years so you need to stick to the math. I don’t recall anybody saying the seeding by the committee was historically bad when the field was announced.

And here I am wishing for an Iowa-ISU national championship game!
Piss…on…that. I want their asses to lose tonight so we can rub it in their dam face about making it further than them! “Cyclone State” they claimed after beating all our major teams…well so far none of their other teams have finished their seasons better than ours. So here’s to hoping another of theirs ending short of ours!

That's the thing, I actually believe that Iowa got the seed they earned from the regular season and don't really have any issues with where they ended up. It's about what I expected tbh. I also thought they were a much better team than a 9 seed, they just couldn't get it together during the regular season. With a few notable exceptions, they were really close to beating the best teams in the Big 10, they just didn't know how to finish a game. Fortunately, it looks like losing those games 4-6 times was able to teach them some things because when they went up against Florida they didn't fold in the last 3 minutes of the game. While this is certainly a Cinderella story and I'm sure the media will play it up, to me it doesn't feel as much like one compared, to Loyola's run a few years ago (for example). Plus, being in the Big 10 means Iowa just has more resources than a lot of other Cinderella type teams have so they don't really fit the profile as well.

Another trip down memory lane. When Raveling coached Iowa (1986), we played NC State in Minneapolis. Iowa State played another team right before us. The arena was filled with Cyclones and Hawkeye fans. During the first game, we cheered for the Cyclones. During our game, the Cyclones cheered for NC State. We lost the game St by 2 points.
Some Cyclone fans are so pitiful.

I guess since Iowa State has beaten so many #1 seeds and defending national champions in their NCAA Tournament history, it just SEEMS like it's been an easy path.

Edit to add that if what the OP posted is a true quote, that might be the worst and dumbest take I've ever seen on a sports message board, and that's saying something.

The copium is on overdrive over there. After the brackets came out, they basically we’re licking their chops on the prospects of Iowa getting stomped by Florida. And basically saying how the Big Ten is completely overrated of course. Especially after they lost the first two games.

Of course, Iowa wins, and then they go in full pivot mode and see how Florida was an overrated 1 seed in Houston should’ve gotten that seed. Then Houston gets dog walked by Illinois to bring things full circle. It’s quite entertaining.

Yep, I was there. We hit 14 of 26 FTs and I don't remember how many were 1/1s. Marble went 5/12 and was at the line with 12 seconds left...

Iowa did itself in when freshman Roy Marble missed the front end of a one-and-one with 12 seconds left and the Wolfpack clinging to a 65-64 edge. N.C. State`s Charles Shackleford snapped down the biggest carom of the night, and the Hawkeyes were forced to commit a deliberate two-shot foul in the final five seconds.

We were staying at the same hotel as the NC State team I think. Anyhow we were at the hotel bar after the game and Jim Valvano walks in and sits at a table in the corner with the Wolfpack fans. We had the bartender send him a drink. Eventually he comes over to the table and acknowledges us complimenting how good the Iowa team was and said they were going to be a tough team in the future. Valvano was smoking a cigar about 8 inches long when he walked over. Wished I had a smart phone back then, moment I'll never forget...

To be fair to the Clone fans, I have never and will never cheer for Iowa State and I wouldn't expect them to cheer for Iowa.

I am the same way, but to say stupid shid like Iowa has the easiest path to a Final4 in history is just such crybaby BS.

And for no reason to say something like that, at all. A potential Iowa/ISU matchup can't happen until the national title game.

Just a reminder that it isn't ISU I truly dislike/hate, its their fans who cheer more for Iowa losses than they do their own wins. They are just like Nebraska in that way.

I’ve never been to any cyclone message board and never will. Some of you are every bit as bad as them with your obsession.
I've never posted on the Clone or Nebby boards, but I do like going over there from time to time to see the discussions (and witness the meltdowns) and it's so stupid seeing some of the Hawkeye fans over their trolling and acting the same as the Husker and Clone trolls that come here.
