Take away the best player on any team and they are not making it to the final 8. Surprised they got past Kentucky.

Kentucky isn't any good, that was proven when they got blown out by Iowa State missing their best player.

But yeah, Jefferson is a hell of a player, they don't beat Iowa in Ames without him. And you need a lot of good play, and healthy players and flat out luck to advance in NCAA Tournaments.

I've been around awhile, but it never ceases to amaze me how clone fans constantly define themselves through and obsess over Iowa.

There have been years where Iowa's team (in whatever sport) wasn't real good and many more in which they were real good. But somehow Iowa always ends up with a great run, huge win or a feel good story that anyone who loves sport can appreciate.

That just kills clone fans.

I think this is because we are truly their only rival in any sport.
They're trying to make KSU one in fball but this farmaggedon thing is nothing special to anyone..
A few yrs ago they were trying to make ku one for bball but you can imagine that was pretty one sided right.
No one really has it out for the clones...now their fans ......

Yep, that's always been the Clown's "old reliable" comeback when arguing with Hawkeye fans. Anyone who was ever born and raised in Iowa knows that Hawkeye athletics are the closest thing we have to professional sports in the state. Iowans have every right to cheer for a university that they didn't attend, it's all we've got. They're just angry that we outnumber them 5 to 1.

Most Hawk fans pulled for ISU. Hawks had less support from Clon̈e fans. Long before internet created the atmosphere there is now.

Last time before tonight (we got a 3 over 2 seed) where we face a higher seed than expected in any round was 1987 6 seed Oklahoma in sweet 16 seed who beat the 3 seed.

Doesn’t help we’ve been in 7/10 8/9 game so much. Closest we’ve come recently I’d say is 14’ play in game loss to Tenn OT. Tenn made sweet 16 after they destroyed 6 seed Umass and ended up playing 14 seed Mercer who upset 3 seed Duke.

ISU must miss some of their old rivals a lot, Nebraska especially. If their football team could beat Nebraska they figured it was pretty good and a big deal. For basketball it was a shorter drive than other Big 12 schools.

Neighbor Missouri abandons them, prominent names Oklahoma and Texas and A&M are gone. Like KU and K-State they must feel like an abandoned child.

I agree, but not good for the clowns. Their former FB coach pretty much took every above average player away with him. Now they are playing new players still in a conference with teams they have no history with.

ISU fans are (some of) the worst, imo.

I could actually not care less about the school and sports program themselves, but their fans engender some real deep dislike for everything ISU from my perspective.
