If you want a defensive center then it's Henri Veesaar from Arizona. Plus you get the overall game.
NC is wanting him bad. A seven footer that Scott Drew called a 'pro.' Has three years left. A big physical speciman, he would be a good fit in the SEC. Think I will order Veesaar and Lee now if you don't mind. Let us snag one from under NC's wish list.

Great finishing inside and a very good shooter. Has some beef also. Looks like a starter to me. So skilled and I love that he has two years left.
Plus, Folgueiras is a good passer and FT shooter. Just a very offensively skilled PF. On top of that, and what really excites me about him, is he doesn't shy away from contact. He scraps for rebounds - and gets them at a high level. I'll give the folks questioning whether he can defend Centers or top tier PF length their due respect, because I'm honestly not sure how he'll fair with that (occasional) issue. Although he hasn't seemed to have any issue rebounding against length. But if he indeed commits, I want to try to dig in deeper on his defense - again, however, I like starting out knowing the guy can and will bang inside.

Bro, I don't know your source but I'm pretty sure they are just assuming and making educated guesses like every one else.
Doesn’t seem many really have the "inside scoop" and this looks to be true other schools, too.
Portal posts get lots of clicks so many like to put out stuff that make a headline, so there going to be a lot of iffy information out there
Here is a well established poster here. Hes got a pretty good record with information whereas you just showed up and stir ****. I think I’ll listen to him.

They need post help BAD, he's a big upgrade. We could use him allow Garrison b/u, just don't see BG stepping up to starter

He’s a good fit with Garrison.

On offense, I think Folgueiras plays the Williams role as a facilitator/passer in the high post. Garrison, who is improving his three point shot, will take on the Carr role and shoot open threes and try to get to the basket on cuts.

Defensively, Garrison will be defend mostly the 5 spot and help in the paint like Williams did. Folgueiras will defend mostly the 4 spot and be more active on the perimeter, like Carr.

Moreno has the potential to put one of them on the bench, but I think he’s the top reserve inside for now.

Still need one more big man. Bol Bowen might be the last piece, if we can secure him.

If not, we have Noah, who can play as a small ball 4. Williams might also, if he is able to add some muscle. He has the height (6’8).

I hate that we missed on Lendeborg.

Oh, well.

Now let’s find a PG.

I know it was a lesser conference but he averaged a double double, idk how many games Carr had with 10+ rebounds but I’d say not many. He very well could play the Amari role as the 5 from the top of the key. I just see a useful big that can do many things well and a 3pt threat with all the post moves. 15pt 10reb 4assist against bama in the tourney.

I hope staff sees the Spanish player as replacement for AA and not for Carr. His defense is at same level wit AA if that. Shooting on par, better drive to the basket than AA. Not a starter .
I disagree with you on this one.

I understand your point, but there were three games against Bama and one against ut this season where we desperately needed a defensive stop and just couldn't get one to save our lives.

IMO, no amount of humanly feasible offensive output can compensate for that defensive ability or lack thereof. Especially if our hope is to throw down with the best of the best and BE the best of the best.
But we do need some guys that can knock down shots. I don’t count count Garrison and Oweh as floor stretchers . The Williams kid is supposed to be. That’s it for potential starters . One guy .

I don’t know why you think we missed on Lendeborg. This wasn’t ab either/or situation.

Get him with Yaxel and ***** gettin right
and add a credible PG1 and we're in the conversation for number 9. I think our biggest competitor for Yaxel is the NBA right now - which is what Auburn thinks as well (but with them being his college pick).

We are not in dire straits, guys.

Right now we have 10 scholarship players, if the Folgueiras rumor holds true.

We had 12 last year, so we have replaced all but two players.

Starters

PG Waiting on Butler replacement.
SG Johnson replaces Robinson.
SF Oweh returns.
PF Folgueiras replaces Carr.
C Garrison replaces Williams

Reserves

PG Lewis replaces Kriisa.
SG Chandler returns.
SF Williams replaces Brea.
PF Noah replaces Almonor.
C Moreno replaces Garrison.

Deep Bench

G Perry returns.
F Waiting on Noah replacement.

So the real big need right now is a starting PG. Once we get that position filled, we are in good shape and can start upgrading spots. Maybe add a reserve PF to push Noah further down the bench. Maybe even get a really good PF that pushes Folgueiras and Noah further down the bench.

Having 10 of your 12 spots filled in two weeks is not bad. And we have three more scholarships to play with.

We have got to land a top notch PG, though. That is crucial, IMHO.

Pope will get it done.

Is there is a pg out there that makes that starting group better than last season? I just don’t see it.

More talent needed.

Does that strike you as a stronger roster than this past year?

I’m not sweating it yet, but I’m hoping there’s more to next year’s roster than that.

We are gonna need a hell of a PG to replace Butler, now Johnson or Lewis could be that. I’d prefer an upperclassman early in the year like a Dent that is pretty surefire ready to produce.

That’s the toughest thing to see right now. I am pretty sure I’d rather roll with Lewis and Johnson than add anyone currently available except maybe Xaivian Lee. So far it’s just him, Dent, and Gillespie who have been in the portal and are good enough right now to be PG on a final four team.

Agreed, we still need an upperclassman scoring guard. I wouldn’t mind having Abdi Bashir. Dude is 6’7” and is a scoring machine who shoots 39% from 3 on a lot of shots. Perfect type guard I wanna start getting. Great size and he’s been in college a little while. 20ppg even at the mid major level is Impressive.
