My advice would be to do an internship in any field you are thinking about entering. If I would have done that I would have chosen a different profession. It's very difficult to change careers once you've spent a fortune and invested years of your life to obtain a particular degree. It's almost like you become married to the profession.

After 40+ posts in this thread I believe I have enough information to say with 100% certainty that I am rooting against the OP in whatever career choice he/she/ze may make.

Kinda need money, and the health part is a teeny bit on the questionable side haha.

Look at this posting. You are probably qualified. "Multimedia Specialist" with C2 Technologies in Alabama. growing company.

www.Indeed.com You can go to the homepage and search with "communications specialist" in the "what" field. Leave the "where" field empty. You'll find a bevy of postings from coast to coast. Go for it. Probably all sorts of outfits out there that would find the opportunity to take a chance on somebody with an "athletics communication" background refreshing, diversifying even. You should present yourself that way. Get serious about it. Next time you post tell us about all the jobs you applied for. You probably could have already had several replies in the amount of time you've been tormenting yourself in this thread. Sorry if I sound insensitive, but for some reason I'm interested in watching you make this happen for yourself, seeing you succeed. We all need a friendly boot in the butt from time to time. That's how I roll. Indeed.com stays open all night. Get some beers and stay up late Saturday. I've written my best resume's drunk. You can too. Good luck. Keep me posted. I'm much more interested in this thread than the one celebrating somebody's self-announced transgender identity crisis.

I got a degree in economics, dreaming of doing economic analysis for someone and all I could find was a sales job in shipping. Then I sold flooring, then I parlayed that into a customer service job as a claims adjuster for Allstate. After bartending my way through college and working with people for basically 12 years I was finished with it and bored out of my mind. So I went back to what I originally wanted to do and decided to try to become an actuary 2 years ago. I needed on year of undergraduate math, which I could afford to pay for our of pocket, and in January I got hired on at Humana. Best decision I ever made. I live my job and the day I started I made 50% more money than the day I quit Allstate. Doing what I love doing and having a challenge every single day I go in to the office is what really gets me going though. Good luck to you OP. Having a job you hate can really big down your life, but stepping out to make the change can really be a stressful decision as well.

I hear picking fruit and potatoes pays decent,,, like $16-$17 per hour. Would you pick fruit for a living ? Hell, hold out until Mackie D's raises minimum wage to $15 per hr. Sounds like you are making less than that now. So keep your fingers crossed.

I won't go Heisenberg haha. But I've actually did pick fruit for one summer - spent the summer once wiht my grandparents who own an apple and peach orchard. Only way grandpa was able to find cheaper labor than a Mexican was by making me "earn my keep" haha.
