First one I saw announced. William and Mary center Jack Whitman, 6'9, 235. A Very different type of center from Gettys. This guy looks mobile. Nice contrast to the bigger Doorson. Averaged 10 and 5 this past year. Not sure if Rutgers is in the market or if he would consider Rutgers, but, he looks like a skilled and mobile big man.....AND, he dunks when he gets to the rim.

Twitter announcement and two game highlights to follow. Whitman is # 41.

Granted, I don't know if "other options" means he'll look to play in college next year.

Rykhoek visited RU last year right before Gettys committed. Known more as an outside big man that can make a shot. Was a top 100 at Baylor years ago but has hadn't several injuries since

Interested in Rykhoek. If he plays D and hits some shots im ALL FOR IT. Need a more mobile big. Also hoping Doorson can continue to slim down.

Out of curiosity, was Gettys ever mentioned last year prior to us getting him or did he come out of nowhere?

I remember his name and a list of schools being mentioned....Pudue (or Iowa) and OSU. His visit to Rutgers was covered in the media, I remember seeing pics of him at the RAC.

He'd go from the oldest state school to the 2nd oldest...

Rykhoek kicked us to the curb last year. He was injured again this past year. I would pass on him. We don't need a guy who might miss half the season. The W & M kid I think could help us. He has some moves and seems pretty good.

I concur with your viewpoint.A possible transfer that seems injury prone isn't a god choice for a grad transfer. The search is just starting .

Kid from Memphis has not stayed anywhere, or participated. Red flag. Doubt the staff makes a move on him again. He already bypassed Rutgers once.

It would be a minor miracle if we could land one of the top grad transfers. Tough competition to get these guys.

Go based on need.

Center.

10 and 5 would be perfect. Big translation- 7 and 6.

A grad transfer at C would be very, very useful. Whitman may be one who fits the bill ... I trust in the current coaching staff.

10 and 5 last year more likely translates to 6 and 4 in the Big Ten, not 7 and 6. Looks more like a mobile offensive help and a body, more than a defender/rebounder. Perhaps a good compliment to Doorson/Sa/Diallo.

ALSO ... RU would really use a grad transfer Wing who can hit the 3 at better than a 33% clip, to bridge to the Class of '18.

IF ... if RU could get a Center and Wing grad transfer, and IF Sanders stays (which looks more likely now than pre-season), then RU's roster could look like this:

PG: Sanders (JR), Mensah (JR)
2G: Williams (SR), Johnson (SR), Baker (FR)
WF: Thiam (SO), Laurent (JR) and/or Grad Transfer (SR)
PF: Freeman (SR), Omoruyi (SO), Sa (SR)
C: Grad Transfer (SR), Doorson (JR), Sa (SR) and/or Diallo (JR)

To have room for TWO grad transfers, RU would need TWO current roster transfers.

With this, RU would not need the current big man commit to reclassify to 2017, but count towards 2018. RU then would have that scholarship, plus FOUR (4) or FIVE (5) ADDITIONAL scholarships available for the 2018 class, and THREE (3) additional scholarships for the 2019 class. RU would need at least 3 guards in the 2018 class, I would think (though maybe 1 could be a "Guard/Wing") and at least 1 SCORING PF, plus possibly another post player.

Did you leave Bullock off intentionally, as in you know something?

I know nothing, but I presume. In my opinion he is a 6'3" PF - and does not have a position or role on a P5 team. Just my opinion. I thought so at the time he was offered, and believe so now, as well.

During the snow storm I watch the 1st half of the 1989 PSU-RU game that I believe you uploaded to youtube.....thanks.

the game has changed quite a bit. the mid range jumper was a weapon. very interesting thing watching the game was momentum was turned when Wenzel went to a 1-3-1 zone with Dadika on the back end. similar to what belien most recently did with WVU.

Not sure why you didn't tape using high density?

Just watched the 89 championship game.

Ah memories.

That's when the RAC was the RAC.

The student section was a wall of fans.

People drinking cans of coke behind the bench.

Girls with the big, "mall" hair.

Dadika was tireless, did he ever come out of the game. He ran the baseline non stop on defense, then when they switched defense he ran with their best shooter.

Younger assistant coach Eddie Jordan.

Young Darryl Smith on the bench, didn't see any action.

Keith Hughes and Earl Duncan in street clothes sitting out their transfer year on the bench.

Miles Dixon gave us some good minutes.

Van Gundy was the other assistant coach ... think about that ... 2 future NBA head coaches as assistants to Wenzel.

Yes, remember it well. Was looking for him on the bench in the video but didn't see him.

If Doucoure reclassifies (which will likely happen after someone transfers IMO) and we have a second transfer, I hope we use it on a taller wing player who is above average from 3

Why does this thought of a possible re-classification keep popping up?
Because one of the mods alluded to an 80-85% chance of it happening in the ATS today. He basically said you never know until they're on campus but there's a very good likely hood it'll happen.

It seems to make sense why he committed so early if he was actually planning on 2017

I would like to see it happen but I heard it would not so I am puzzled. I don't want to appear to be stupid but what is the ATS ?

I'm with you on this one 1212, I heard he would be here in 2018. But others are saying different so we will see.

Ask The Staff. It's a feature on the premium broad where you can ask questions to the staff. The premium boards are pretty awesome. The staff is great
