Anybody keeping up with this major hurricane that is going to be forming in the gulf in the next day or so? Talking about it being a potential cat 4 or 5.

Surprisingly, this morning on WIS they weren't talking it up too much. Their current forecast was for it to be here Thurs/Fri (which seems awfully quick, considering where it currently sits), and their forecast for the midlands was only around 3-4" of rain.... Obviously, we all know forecasts can and do change often with these storms..... The track they showed was for it to come into the gulf, make landfall around Alabama, and track north (which would leave us in the bad quadrant). So, who knows..... I guess we'll know in 5, 6, 7 days....

Read about it. Seems it's early enough that it could go one of many directions right now. Maybe major. Maybe just a tropical storm.

One guy I follow on FB who lives in TB who studies hurricanes (he's no meteorologist) but he watches the trends, models and etc. He's been on this thing for several weeks. Definitely don't like the size of what this thing looks like or can look like. It doesn't look good.

Some weather people have been talking about it for a couple weeks. I can't ever recall a storm taking this long to develop. I'm hoping the European model is more correct and it takes a more westerly track.

I live several hours south of Tampa Bay (though I used to live there) and I just walked outside -- didn't see anything so I came back inside. Will file another report if I see a hurricane.

From the models I've seen that were released this morning, its supposed to hit the panhandle and then take a more northwesterly turn due to a high over our area and a front to the west. Of course there are outliers too but this thing has been nerve wracking to keep up with to say the least.
