Hoping for all snow and no ice but ice is looking more and more likely. The ice storms of 2003 and 2009 (I think these are the correct years) were bad.
We were in England in 2009 during the ice storm. My wife came home in late February. She sent me a picture of our front yard. There was a mountain of tree limbs covering the front yard. We don't have a tree on our .40 acre. People were dumping them there because the house had been dark for so long.......

The ice Central KY is expected to get is the worst. You could lose power for a while. Good Luck.

We live in Louisville and went to 830am church service. During the time we were there my suv was snow covered when we came out and some already freezing. Visibility was bad too. Be careful if you must go out.

It's coming down like a big dog in the Corbin, London, Manchester area of Southeastern KY. It started about an hour ago and we are up to around an inch. It's supposed to snow until around 1 or 2 then switch over to freezing rain. As the front moves through, it's giving rain and a rise in temperatures to the mid-high 30's. Overnight it's supposed to be around 42 so hopefully it melts off. Tomorrow gives morning snow but the high is to be 42. Hopefully the temperature will keep it from being a sheet of ice and allow the HWY DEPT to get out and get busy.

3" already here in Bullitt County. I'm hoping some plain rain can get up here later on. Looks like it's gonna be close.

Checking in from Hart County. About 2” so far. It’s stopped snowing and more sleet now.

Franklin County with around 5 inches so far. Snowing for a couple more hours before the sleet/freezing rain transition.

Another overhyped snowstorm. I keep telling myself that I will NEVER fall in love with the 10-day forecasts. Maybe this time I'll just start paying attention to the closest nine days.

1/8" in 1st hr in NKy, 10:15-11:15. I think there's a slight chance it will pick up.
We're at 3.5" after 6 hrs in. My new knee & I cleaned off the drive. Prediction down to 8-9" total with a lot overnight. Not real hard at the moment.

Looks like it's changed back to snow/sleet instead of freezing rain by near the airport in Louisville now. Was having a period of freezing rain for a couple of hours.

Measured 5" of snow on our front walk. Been getting ice/sleet/rain since about 4pm. Got plenty of food. Just hoping the power doesn't go out.

Alright friends…..driving tomorrow from Columbia, SC up to Bloomington, IL heading home from visiting family. I will head up 75 from Knoxville and then from Lexington up through Louisville.

I anticipate I’ll hit London around 1:00pm. Any thoughts on if it will still be a mess the further north I get in Kentucky? Would like to make it home, but will stop for the night if it gets bad.

Thoughts on tomorrow?

I would detour into nashville and take 65 since most of the state is a mess. But nashville is good and you shouldn't get stuck in traffic until you make it near Louisville

Around 7” in Louisville and that measurement is after some of this sleet and ice has capped it and applying weight. Sleet/Rain right now. Gonna be a long night.

Power outages have not yet started in Lexington, but it already looks like we've gotten .1" to .15" already

After stopping just before dark, it's picked up like a bandit again & near 6". Predict 5 more overnight. Temps never got out of low 20's.
