I would move back to Kentucky, buy some land about 30 miles outside of Lexington, build a house to my standard, and go to every home game of the three major sports. Oh yeah, I would also throw a party for the folks on this site excluding the leeches of course.

Retire, hire someone else to run the store, not give a damn how it does, vacation a lot more, take up fishing or golfing. I dunno.

Definitely get fatter and spend more time in underwear.

-I would buy a ton of land.....put my home smack in the middle of it. Turn it into an outdoor paradise.....hunting, fishing, hiking, 4-wheelin.

-I would have vacation homes around the world and travel a lot.

-I would take care of myself a lot better.....exercise, eat better, get regular massages.

-I would soak up knowledge and hobbies. Finally get piano and/or guitar lessons. Take a cooking class or two. Take a college course or two in some cool field.

-I would start a foundation and contribute regular to worthy causes.

-I would definitely secure my family's future as much as possible for as long as possible.

-I would start a bucket list and check things off as I do them

-I would experience the best sporting events: World Series, March Madness, Superbowl, Stanley Cups, World Cups, etc. I would also go to varying college football rivalry games or bowl games.......as well as various UK events.

-I would contribute to both UK and the MT athletic depart.......with special attention towards the football programs......and sports medicine given my background as an Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist.

"You know what I would do if I had a million $'s.....nothing, absolutely nothing."

"You don't need a million $'s to do nothing, man. Look at my cousin, he's broke and don't do ****..."

If you win and end up with 300 million, that means your sustainable annual income is $12 million or $250k per week.

I think I would maintain a home here for seeing family but would pretty much travel constantly otherwise. That's enough income to stay at any resort or hotel full time with plenty left over to do some charity, and leave family in good shape too.

Hail no... You couldn't give me 400 million to move to California. (Actually you could, I just wouldn't like it....as much)

Somewhere in Utah or Colorado....and Key West....and Southern Appalachian Mtn. area...and Capri Island, Italy...for now.

Somewhere between Pigeon Forge and Asheville for me to go with a beach house on the East Coast and a winter home in Arizona for golf.

I would buy out half of eastern Kentucky and travel the world. No way I would move to California when I could just vacation there whenever I want with my millions.

I'd give every member of my family and our close friends a one-time, $1million gift and then I'd disappear. I'd likely buy an island and then fund the necessary resources, supply chains, security, etc. to ensure I could live there safe and easy.

Low level existence. Don't want a bunch of things. Just want the freedom to exist w/o the worry of money of job or societal constraint. Just be.

Side note, the idea of being gifted enough money that I could do whatever I wanted would be absolutely negated if you told me I had to constantly ******* travel. I'd likely give the money back b/c I have less than zero desire to see the world and only slightly more to get off my *** for anything. I simply couldn't care less. I'd rather just sit right here as opposed to having to travel and deal with even more people than I already have to. That's not a win in my book.

While stationed in Portugal from 88-91 I got to know quite a few well off expatriates.

One man lived on the coast for about a year. His company had made a ton of money doing construction.

Anyway, he retired turned over the company to his kids. He would rent a place in different countries for a year, fully furnished but not extravagant. Then he had an “allowance” each month. He would immerse himself in the local culture for a year and then move on.

He was a neat old dude. That retirement plan always intrigued me.

I would probably try something like that. With a plan to die peacefully in bed one might. Either in Bangkok or Amsterdam.

Probably Amsterdam with a room full of high end, six foot tall, blond, Scandahovian call girls.

I dreamed I won 375 million after taxes. This was about a year ago. I was making everyone around me rich.

When I woke up, I was not happy.

I have been playing alone. Now office wants in. Fifteen beats what I got.

A wise Catpaw friend once sent me this when I posted a similar theme...

Enjoy.

Mom and Dad get a house with no steps in it until they wrap things up
Kids get a cool million when they finish college
Hypothetical grandkids get college funds started.
Three churches I've been associated with get a couple hundred thou, and then never another dime
House on some beach, house on some lake, apartment in NYC just for kicks, house in Lex.
Tricked out pick up truck, sensible Cadillac sedan, and a golf cart.

that oughta hold me and the missus

With all this cold *** weather, the first thing I would do is head to some place tropical for about 3-4 months.

When I finally came back I would buy me a nice piece of land and build my dream home.

While my home is being built I would take a trip to Alaska. I've always wanted to go there for some reason.

I would also take care of my family and close friends.

The first thing I would do is put ads in the newspapers, online, etc...; send letters to friends and family, etc.... announcing my intention to share my newly acquired wealth with deserving parties. However, one stipulation would be this: Any person or agency directly or indirectly asking, hinting, soliciting, suggesting, etc... a donation, gift, loan, grant, etc...from me or anyone related to me will not be considered.

Best thing would be to build the go to house away from everyone else but not so far that you could not get to what you want. Keep the moochers away, travel a lot and see the world but, have that sanctuary for when the crap hits the fan.

What are the rules in Kentucky, anyone know?

Can you accept the money while remaining anonymous? Could you change your name? Etc.

It better be anonymous or I would change my name. The secret to success is being able to remain anonymous, even from friends and family. I would not want to spend the rest of my life getting sued from having cars stop short in front of me, people climbing over the fence and falling down in my yard, etc.

On a side note, about 10 years ago the Powerball was won in Georgetown. I had numbers purchased in Georgetown at the time. Talk about exciting.
Think about it, how often can you say your state won the big lottery, let alone the town you purchased tickets.

My wife and I had the same conversation.

Most people who have won the lottery say the #1 question they are always asked by people is, "How have you changed since winning the money?" The response is usually, "We haven't changed, but everyone around us has...." That's very telling.

I imagine there's a difference in the amount won as well. $10 million is a lot of money, but it doesn't mean nearly the same now as opposed to 20 yrs ago. I would wager that if you won $10 million, people would leave you alone more.....(though, obviously they'd still bug you) However, winning $400 million would make me instantly paranoid. I'd be worried someone would kidnap my kids or something.
