Its not just the CDC. UNMC is getting a little nervous right now. They have their highest total of ICU beds taken up right now, somewhere around 3/4 I think is what my mom said the other day. I guess one of the docs went into a meeting with Dr. Rupp (UNMC's Fauci) and basically said his outlook for the fall was similar to Fauci's, guardedly optimistic.
The Nebraska system is trying to move heaven and earth to have the most normal games possible but they still don't know. She hasn't gone back to her physical office yet even though she doesn't work on the hospital side of the building, and she has her big office with a door and all that, they are still pretty cautious with having anyone on campus. Think's it'll be a few weeks yet before significant amounts of people return.
The challenge specifically isn't that kids are 20 and in decent shape so they'll be fine, but you have to have staff in all those places to even have a reason to have kids on campus for various programs in the first place. And staff aren't generally young and healthy.
