Thanks for the well wishes. I lived here for Wilma but not Andrew. And Andrew affected only South Dade Co. My point is there has never been a really bad hurricane where I live (Ft. Lauderdale area), at least not in "modern" times. On the other hand, I remember a particularly bad tornado (1974) growing up in Louisville. There are natural disasters everywhrte. One thing that is particularly bad about a hurricane, though, is the days of buildup and stress. It wears on you.
I thought I found the safest place when I moved to SE Idaho. No problems for 22 years, but we've all the sudden had a swarm of 200 (and counting) earthquakes in the area since last Saturday night. Nothing major yet (largest was a 5.3), but the near constant minor rumbling is unsettling.
Of course, if Yellowstone blows I'll be buried in ash, and the rest of the country will be screwed too.
