It’s almost like it’s another athlete tnt are ruining…………………
I definitely think the Brands have a heavy weight curse.
Matt Fields - Konrad broke his leg, never the same
Telford - knee
Stoll - hunting accident
Cass- gambling suspension
Keuter - hip surgery

Not placing blame on TnT, but is a lot of issues. I don't recall one heavy that didnt lose part or all of a season under Brands.

Come on now. That’s ridiculous. He wrestled Ferrari tough. AJ is my pick for NCAA champ and Ben was right there
Ben has definitely been wrestling too much like a conventional heavyweight. I don’t know if it’s from the injury, time off or from the weight gain, but it is a trend.

With that said, the naysayers seem to forget who he was wrestling. AJ has 3 career losses and his only loss this year came from a possible concussion. The guy is incredibly hard to score on and is a phenomenal counter wrestler. I would love to see Ben open up as much as anyone. But, a high attack volume against AJ could very well have turned that score ugly…

I do not understand this logic.

A lose is a lose. Does it really matter if it was by a lot or a little?

You are saying it could have been worse without acknowledging that it could have been better. Keuter made his first real attempt with 15 seconds to go after trailing for the previous four minutes. He attacked again with under 10 seconds to go and came closer. Imagine if he attacked with more frequency and with more time to convert. By not attacking he gave himself a single, very narrow path to victory.

That path was closed off once Ferrari got the first takedown. And then Keuter went two more periods without attempting to tie the score, never mind win. Keuter is an undeniably talented wrestler. To say a high attack volume may have turned the score ugly is a defeatist attitude.

I'm not sure a hunting accident explains Stoll.

Did I not say I would like to see him open up? I was simply pointing out that this particular opponent is maybe the last guy at the weight you want to be shooting on a bunch.

I know he is wrestling too much like a conventional heavyweight and hope he doesn’t have physical limitations that make him feel he has to wrestle that way. I want to see his attack rate go up as much as anyone does. I was simply pointing out that his opponent last night is really damn good and makes his living off counters and re-attacks…

You did. And then you immediately followed it with the word But. When someone says X but Y. They mean Y.

Even allowing for Ferrari being hard to score on/good on reattacks that is only a valid concern when tied or leading.

Cass was part of the gambling, I don't remember that.

I love when people try to tell me what I mean. Have I not posted enough on here to be an expert on myself?

The point wasn’t to say BK shouldn’t have attacked. It was to point out HOW GOOD the guy he was wrestling is AGAINST attacks.

So many in here have been blasting BK for his style of wrestling this season. I even started off by agreeing to that trend. I was simply pointing out that Ferrari isn’t the best measuring stick for that argument.

But, hey, if you want to become PSU stalker #3, there is definitely room! šŸ˜‰

I remember all these posters last season that said Ben Keuter was a title threat in 2026 after the Hwt class cleared out after last year.

Where are all those fans right now???

He's more likely to not even AA than finish even top 4.

For a smaller Hwt, he is soooooooo slow on his feet.

I'd lay this and the PSU loss at the coaches feet. Ben had the height and reach advantage on both his opponents. JFC come up a gameplan to maximize this. Letting opponents shoot from space wasn't it. Close the gap, Russian tie or underhook offense should be part of his arsenal. AJ is horse but make him carry the weight at the very least.

Yeah I am sure I said that. I still think he could get there if he can open up. The only guy I don’t think he could beat right now is probably Bastida but that is assuming Bastida doesn’t get a hang nail or something at NCAAs

That's cope.

Team dual was already decided. Times like those, you let it fly and leave it out there if you're trailing. Even if you try something risky and get thrown to your back, you learn something.

Just like last year when everybody said Ben was done I said he would be a top five guy and sure enough was. He’ll be top five again. If being a top five all American is an acceptable. Maybe you should strap on a single and show us how it’s done.

Ok I’ll strap on a single for you. Also Ben got 8th in a loaded bracket not really sure what you’re talking about. Saturday afternoon beers maybe?

Thx for posting a match everyone already watched. Waiting til the last 30 seconds to take 2 dedicated shots doesn't count.
No thank-you necessary, it's my pleasure. Some things things just never get old.

He was top 5 if you remove the top 3 finishers at Nattys.šŸ˜…

And after watching Ohio State vs Minny, I'll be very surprised if he ever beats Feldman again.
Unfortunately I agree. I LOVE Ben want to get that straight for the morans that think I’m just a negative Nelly anti tom guy. I’m just very concerned he and this coaching staff have ruined what FLO called one of if not the best all around athletes to ever come out of the state of Iowa. After he won it as a freshman I remember sitting there in Des Moines and I was like omg this kid is going to be the real deal.

It's more than HWT. How many times does Iowa go into nationals as the walking wounded.

I believe that was the "official press release"? He got shot in the leg, I forget the details now.
Reminds me of a book I read where a guy pranked a friend who was drunk off his ***. Drunk guy shot him with a pistol as a reflex action, skipped town and the incident was covered up by all parties involved…

It's accross all weights, heavy is just consistent.

Basically wheels are wore out by March. Finishing with a full healthy line up hasn't happened since year 2 of Brands. I thought this staff had solved that issue, but then last year happened.
