Prayers for Hall of Fame Marian Catholic Dave Mattio

Sad to report that former Marian Catholic Hall of Fame head coach Dave Mattio is not well and is currently in hospice care.

Dave is truly one of the legends in IHSA football and someone who has been so terrific to me over these many years.

My thoughts and prayers out to Dave and the Mattio family

My wife has a cal city side. Her cousins played for Coach Mattio and they absolutely love and respect him. Sad news.

echo all of the aforementioned comments....had the pleasure of sitting next to him on an airline flight back to Chicago a couple of years ago; when I recognized him, we started talking h.s. football, coaching, mentoring youth (like I knew what I was talking about)....a real gentleman, and a genuine person; (he didn't hold it against me that my son was a MC guy, although my daughter (now an elementary school teacher in Hollywood, California) was a Marion Catholic graduate....a real class act, one of the best....
