I don't really start threads anymore or post diatribes either. I've pretty much gone into MOD mode and scan everything & or post 1 or 2 sentences, but this one hit me today.
We've lived in our current home for over 15 years and the family next to us have been great neighbors. Husband & wife with 2 children that have graduated High School the past few years and are into college. The wife has MS & I've slowly watched her health deteriorate. When the weather is good she'll take the dog for a walk in her wheelchair.
He came over this afternoon and asked for a little help. I said sure, what do you need? He stated. I need help picking up my wife and moving her. My heart sunk. Didn't hesitate, grabbed my shoes. and went next door. She was on the living room floor unable to move. She had been in ICU the past week and came home yesterday. She was being moved to a skilled care facility for therapy. She is 49 y/o. I made a couple suggestions on how to move her and getting her into their car since it's part of what I do for a living. They didn't want an ambulance. Not sure when she'll come home but with this being the holidays it's always good to know you can count on friends for their prayers & thoughts.
Not gonna lie, this **** breaks my heart. These are great people & it's Christmas. Please keep them in your hearts this holiday season.

Lifting them up in prayer. Sometimes life can be incredibly cruel and we need the help of others. I am reminded in the saying that goes,

"Which of these three (who saw the man on the ground needing help) was a neighbor...?
The expert in the replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

Thanks for doing likewise.

I’ve been reading this board for years but never post. But after helping a shipmate I served with in the Navy over 30 years ago who was diagnosed with PTSD this year, I know what you’re feeling Sparky! So thoughts and prayers not only to your neighbors but to you and your family as well. Oh, and for the record, your wing sauce makes great stocking stuffers.

In the blink of an eye anything can happen. With enough prayers, sometimes I want to believe the man up above lets us be with the ones we want, even if its only for a blink of an eye.
