We just left the family cabin yesterday morning and my parents left this morning. It's about 200 yards from the infamous Papa John's on the side of that hill. Who knows. Might wake up and it is gone.

But by all means. continue to joke about something that is destroying property and might be taking lives as we type.

Evacuations were ordered. If your dumb *** stayed after that, you deserve to DIAF. Literally.

I can read just fine. Can you remember what you said, or are you that much of a mongoloid?
The evacuation order was issued at 9:03. There were structure fires long before that. Now you can resume hitting your head on a large rock, as is your customary nightly ritual.

This was posted around the same time as the evac order. If things are this bad, and you either have to be told to leave, or decide to stick it out, that is the gene pool using some chlorine. Please, continue to double down on your take though.

Fire played a major role in the US pre-European settlement. A large swath of Kentucky was managed for bison and Oak Hickory Forest flourished in much of the rest of the state because of fire. Post settlement fire has been largely controlled but is still needed (controlled) in Oak Hickory Forest to maintain the ecology. Sorry for people losing their belongings.

Some of us still appreciate straight talk and don't require a feelings filter. Stupid is as stupid does, no matter how much that fact chaps your ***.

Whatever. So I guess the folks who were trying to leave and couldn't get through because of downed trees deserve to die too.

Forest fires can spread rapidly especially with wind gusts of 70 MPH but good to know you and Herodotus are on top of things to tell everyone how stupid they are.

- But, we aren't discussing those people, are we. Do you need a transcript of the actual quote or will this very thread suffice?

- All the more reason to heed common sense and GTFO before having to be told...

I can read fine and agree people should leave ASAP but some of those fires went from annoying to life threatening very quickly.

And I know you weren't talking directly about those blocked but had they left soon enough the trees wouldn't have blocked them.

And to be honest, Herodotus seemed like he just wanted to be a dick to the one guy who was posting about his family or friends or whatever.

Even stupid people deserve a little compassion and empathy at times. I guess that is where we differ.

The fires apparently came over the hills in a matter of minutes, not hours, due to unprecedented wind gusts. Prior to that, the populated areas were just experiencing heavy smoke. You know... Like eastern ky had for nearly 10 weeks prior to the recent rain. But I'm sure all you dumbass experts would have been tooting the same horn if those fires had spread to populated areas in the time it takes you morons to finish an episode of party down south or pickers and overtaken a town like jackson, prestonsburg or pikeville.

When did it become "straight talk" to make fun of or start blaming people being killed in a horrible fire? WTF is going on in this thread? From all reports its getting pretty damn serious over there. "Straight Talk" is not making fun of families being burned to death, Jesus.

No one has died (not that I have heard, anyway). I'm sure if people HAD died, herodotus might not have used the phrase DIAF...one can't be sure, though.

Have you all watched so many snuf videos that this is even remotely funny to you? You all are so engrossed in being this character online that you can't tell the difference between virtual and realty.
Not being held back by what society thinks of you doesn't mean you should be a jerk.
The funny thing is, it will start right back as soon as I hit "Post Reply", have fun with it, I just hope you get a minute to reflect on your selves.

So the first topic that is officially taboo in catpaw history is the gatlinburg fires?

Nope. The Va Tech shooting a few years ago started out with people making jokes about the Vick bros, etc until people realized how many people were dying.

Wow. You're a real prick aren't you.

Yes I am.

This was posted from the main strip of Gatlinburg well before the evacuation was ordered. You don't have to be the head cashier at McDonald's to figure out that where there's smoke so thick you can barely breathe, fire is close by. If you took a look at that and thought:

Well, I can't help you. And yes, I get that some people got trapped by the fire, and that sucks. Those people are a rare few. The people I am talking about, the ones that knew death approaches and thinks that they can survive it anyway, those people get no pity.

3 people dead (confirmed). The gatlinburg fire chief discussing how gusts in excess of 80mph could be responsible for blowing embers up to a mile. All the while, @herodotus6 sits and posts on catpaw about "people shoulda got out, they knew the far was a comin."

Moron.

Regardless of what you think of people and and their IQ level three people have been confirmed dead. This never was and never will be a joking matter. Have some compassion.
