Herod's a mean dude. He prolly set those fires.3 people dead (confirmed). The gatlinburg fire chief discussing how gusts in excess of 80mph could be responsible for blowing embers up to a mile. All the while, @herodotus6 sits and posts on catpaw about "people shoulda got out, they knew the far was a comin."
Moron.

Back to the important issue, is Papa John's still there? Won't be going back if not.
Sorry about your cabin. Especially something with that much history. The blaze apparently began when embers from a wildfire on nearby Chimney Tops Trail in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park wafted Monday night into the Twin Creek and Mynatt Park areas of Gatlinburg as already heavy winds doubled in speed, Miller said. The resulting flames swept through Gatlinburg in less than 15 minutes, fanned by winds at speeds that approached 90 mph.

Just to further explain to @herodotus6 why evacuees didn't stay "too long."
Also just got confirmation that our family cabin (for 4 generations) is a total loss. I know it sounds corny, but I really hope hard that no one (here or elsewhere) has property burn up.
