During my years of coaching, had more than enough injuries, ACL's dislocated knees, but the most frightening was a compound fracture to the tibia. Cut an artery, blood was spurting everywhere, almost lost the kid on the field and EMT's and ambulance were in back of endzone. Scared me, kid had surgery and made a full recovery, but never played again and that's ok, he was within a minute or two of bleeding out.

I was honestly expecting a Clint "Hurt" joke when I clicked on the thread. I'm very proud of my fellow cat fans. I wish Teddy a speedy recovery.

One reports said a bad dislocation for Teddy. Did not seem to be an arterial bleed. Clearly, it looked bad and Teddy was in pain.

Latest news just released is VERY good..."no nerve or arterial damage." A full recovery is expected. That's really good news for him based on some of the reports that were surfacing earlier this afternoon.

Nobody wants injuries....felt bad with Randall Cobb injury last year for Green Bay because he is a great ambassador for the Kentucky Football Program...great news with Bridgewater that it appears to be no nerve damage.

In that case, I'm proud of my restraint. I wasn't going with a "Hurt" comment, though. Was just going to go with a reference to the fact he got paid to play college football

Saw a like injury here locally in the 90's. This kid lost his leg but lived. It prevented my ife from ever allowing her (only) son to play football. He was a good athlete and would have excelled at WR or CB but that was the end for him.

I hope Bridgewater recovers well. He seemed like a real good kid and at times he was amazing on the field. But even if he were a crum I still would not wish this on anyone. The details coming out are frightening. This is not just an injury out for a year thing, this is career threatening. He's too young for that.

What's up with them saying he is sedated? What would be the reason for that if it's just an ACL?

Could very well have experienced some anxiety/shock over the injury and they needed to sedate him to calm his nerves enough to properly evaluate the severity of the injury without having to also cope with him wanting to move and cause more stress to him. I had to have meds to undergo an MRI for torn hamstrings before due to the discomfort I was in since you have to lie still in a tube (or on a slap for an open MRI). It is not necessarily that unusual for a sports related injury to the lower body.

From reading accounts it was not a pleasant thing to be around but now hearing that he will definitely miss this season but should recover with no career ending injuries. Considering all we were hearing at first, he is a very lucky man and should be back to play after a lot of rehab. Also sounds like he is a very respected guy from around the league. He may have played for our hated rival but the whole thing just made me sick to hear about and am happy to hear he will, most likely, be OK in time. Prayers out to the young man for a speedy and full recovery. Seems like a class act.

awful news, hated it for the kid on a freak noncontact nongame play. so glad it is not nearly as horrific as was feared yesterday afternoon. wish him a fantastic recovery & a great career

BTW also proud of our fanbase on this thread & also those on twitter saying the same - knowing the exact opposite can & does happen with our guys having misfortune & the less than sportsmanship response it receives from their fanbase.

Happy to see my fellow Cats fans wishing Teddy well. I'm a bit crushed over it. Vikings fan, season ticket holder there for 8 years, and set to attend my first Packers - Vikings game in the new stadium. Devastating on many levels, most importantly because Teddy is such a beloved athlete.

Thanks for all of the well wishes guys. Teddy is the classiest guy you could ever want to meet. Hope he's back flinging the ball around soon. He will be sorely missed this season.

Anyone whos ever witnesses/suffered a major dislocation knows the subject often needs sedation. Intense pain. People seem to agree its much worse than a break.

Chances for recovery sound good, especially given the modern treatment he'll be receiving. Another saving grace is that he didnt rely on his wheels that much at all, although I dont suspect his straightline speed will be effected at all. Just lateral movement, if anything.

This is really horrific hearing this morning....apparently he was thisclose to losing his leg...

Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater may have lost far more than the NFL season if not for the quick action of on-site trainers, according to injury specialist Will Carroll.

A tibia femoral dislocation is a traumatic dislocation of the knee which often causes vascular injuries and permanent damage if immediate action if not taken. Bridgewater's tibia and femur reportedly separated at the knee, causing the catastrophic situation.

The fact that he was rushed to a trauma center suggest potential nerve and/or artery damage, which could be VERY serious, and career-threatening, or even limb-threatening.

I'm an above-elbow amputee, lost in a traumatic accident at age 28. I became a successful para-athlete (golf), and I competed against two leg amputees who lost their legs playing basketball after having what sounds like a similar injury that Teddy suffered. These guys had severe artery damage that blocked blood flow to the lower portion of their leg. This is why you would rush someone to the trauma unit, in the case of this or if this were even a possibility.

The latest news on Teddy is "torn ACL and further structural damage." Let's hope like hell he can play again. As a UL fan, I can tell you he is without a doubt one of the most beloved UL athletes in my lifetime. He was everything you could ever hope for in a student-athlete. A great player, a fabulous leader, and an even better person.

AJC, you sound like a bad man! That is a sad story about your arm, but you obviously had the character to overcome that adversity and thrive. Good on ya, brother.

Ya. I can understand wanting Bradford, but not for a 1st rounder.

One possibility is their Dr's are telling them teddy may not return. I can't imagine making this trade otherwise

Sounds to me like the Vikings were in a bidding war with Denver (hence the deleted tweet about the trade by a Denver assistant coach). The Vikings were a legitimate NFC North contender until Bridgewater went down, and Bradford makes them that again. While it is likely, there are no guarantees that Teddy will recover fully by next September.

I swear the Vikings can't catch a break. Hope he gets better. Anyone who witnesses a happening like this is going to be upset or sick no matter the team they play for. I only wished he went into full shock instead of having to endure the writhing pain

The Vikings were a Dark Horse Super Bowl contender especially with All Day and that Defense. Now in Philadelphia they will be apparently starting Carson Wentz Week One vs Cleveland...
