I see in pick em post that quite a few people are picking PH to beat Salem. I do think it will be a reasonably close game especially since the Salem kicker is out and PH may very well win. But I thought it might be fun to predict the score. Here's mine. Salem 33. PH 21

I stopped making score predictions a couple of years ago because inexplicably the team that I picked to win would lose when on paper they were obvious favorites! I just hope everytime I'm at Salem Stadium the left side of the scoreboard has at least 1 more point than the right side of the scoreboard!

Just some info. 2015. Salem 51. pH 16 at PH. Salem held under 20 points last three years twice. Both times by Lake Taylor 17 2014 and 2015. Vhsl says 21. 20. Salem

Most stats says Salem wins by 14. However, this year's Spartan defense has given up some big plays for tds. These big plays have been both through the air and some gashing runs. Over the past three years only Lake Taylor and William Byrd have been able to slow Salem's offense. Salem can hurt you on the ground and the air. That has been their secret to their offensive success--balance. However, they have not been a dominant defense except for the second half of the year during their championship run. That's what's been missing so far this year---a dominant defense. The game against PH will be a great measuring stick for how far the Spartans have come since the first two weeks of the season. If the Spartans handle PH easily that might point to the Spartans making another playoff run. If not, oh well, theirs always next year.

LT has, Byrd did it for one half in which Salem continuously fumbled the ball(still couldn't move the ball much but Byrd's TOP in the first half must have been nuts). Salem scored 42 and 49 on Byrd the last 2 years and each game was 42-0 at the half so I wouldn't say they have the key to stopping Salem.

Really don't think Byrd wants to see Salem in the playoffs because from the way people talk about that game you'd think Salem actually lost it. Agree with the rest, though, this will be an interesting game. Right now I see this team more like the Salem of 2 years ago than the Salem of last year but we'll see(also that's not really a huge insult, that Salem team was really good).

Didn't mean to imply that Byrd had always slowed Salem s offense. You are correct in that they were only able to do it for a half this year
