2022 - 6 games, 1260 yards, 11 TDs, and 4 INTs
2021 - 12 games, 3400 yards, 35 TDs, and 3 INTs
2020 - 4 games, 890 yards, 8 TDs, and 2 INTs

Guessing the wild cards are: how will he perform in Coen's offense, and how will it look versus SEC defenses? Leary faced Miss. State's defense on the road in September of 2021 and had a pretty average performance against that 5th ranked SEC defense (single game sample size caveat).

2800 yards 28 TDS 8 INTS plus a couple of rushing TDs. I'm very high on Leary and his weapons. I think the OL will be dramatically better
I was gonna say 29-10 if they can keep him clean. If they can keep him up right at a level that we don’t see at uk then 33-10

If he stays healthy he will have 3000 yards. I have no doubt about that. The only other way that might change is if our running game is incredibly beastly.

His yards will look much different, but they will be way more consistent and the chains will keep moving because of getting the balls to guys in space instead of taking sacks.

Leary's stats are impressive, I'm especially impressed with his TD/interception ratio which is elite. With the skill talent we have he should put up good numbers but it will depend on other elements of the game, not just protection but the running game as well. A QBs best friend is the running game.

I suspect scheme alone will have our oline playing much better, then factor in talent with the easier concepts, then one would expect a middling SEC line as the floor. I look forward to a balanced offense, that maybe is less power run reliant, but incorporates a lot more play action and misdirection with enough outside speed to take the top off and a QB with the skills to read down to outlet passes. If they execute to their potential this squad has a decent chance to be top half SEC offense with a top 3 defense with 9-10 wins more likely than 6-7.

Depends on healthy. If healthy with Coen he should do well. The first half of the schedule is weak so gives him time to learn and work out kinks.

Re Hartline, agree 100%. Hartline now in the college coaching game, recently hired as Passing Game Coordinator at University of Charlotte.
I remember a post i wrote defending hartline when he was here. I got BLASTED by the negative Nancy’s to the tune of 3 pages. Hartline was not treated well here. He followed the beloved instate Woodson and fans were brutal of his performances. The old watch what you wish for rings very true. Fans wanted Hartline replaced. He was for the next 15 years our last 3000 yard dude. They wanted something else and they got it.

If the RB's are proficient out of the backfield his numbers could be outstanding if the OL protects him. These numbers reflect t if the above is positive: 4200 yes, 44 TD's 9 Int's. If their not 3200, 28, and 6.

I will be happy if we get 3,000yds 30/10 out of him. The reason I think he will have double-digit INTs is due to his needing to adjust to the speed of SEC defenses during live fire. Once he gets used to the overall speed, he should settle down and throw fewer INTs later in the schedule.

Hartline was good his last season but nothing special until then. It speaks to the struggles of UK finding a qb that 15 years passed between 3000 yard passers.

First wildcard is health.

I think coen gives him a really good shot. As does having a nice stable of receivers. If our oline can do it’s job Leary should have a big year

I'd like to see some passes to our backs. We really haven't had that dimension to our offense since Anthony White.

I’m bullish. But I want to see how our offensive line looks first.
This sounds reasonable. I am optimistic but there are caveats. I do not doubt that Leary is capable. I do not doubt Leary can adjust to the SEC. And I do not doubt that Liam Coen knows how to manage the situation. It is a question of an improved OL slowing down SEC edge rushers and Leary avoiding injury.

If he stays healthy and OL is is even average SEC, I think 4000/40/5 is completely realistic. If he hits those numbers, with our defense, I think we’re looking at a 10+ win season.

Agreed and given how deep our RB room is and we have to exceptional pass catchers there, I suspect your wish will be realized and heavily. If you have a decent oline and an accurate QB who can process above avg then a pro style offense is rather simple. PLay action to draw the LBs up, check if the deep routes are coming open, if not check down to short routes/TEs, then lastly RBs in the flats. If the Oline can give 3+ seconds on avg, Leary will pick defenses apart.

From the highlights I've seen of Leary, he seems to do just that. Our O line will just have to be marginally better for him to have a great season. Without looking, I think Levis was around 2800 yards. He wasn't particularly good at going through his progressions and that was with a really good line 2 seasons ago. If Leary can stay healthy, I see no reason why he can't come close to his numbers he put up at NC State his last full season. Our skill guys are better than what he had to work with then. Going to be an exciting season.

Unlike some coaches who will not be mentioned here, Coen knows how to design plays and game plans to accommodate the skill talent on hand. He proved that with Levis and Wandale. Coen is one of the main reasons I expect Leary to be successful. Leary will not hold onto the football because he is accurate and confident. The ball will come out. Leary has a good group of receivers. Coen will exploit a pro principle by establishing his passing game and checking to run plays when safeties play loose against us. In this kind of system, Leary should complete >70% and Barion and Dane will wear out secondaries in the creases. There will be a lot of open receivers in underneath routes too because all these guys cannot be covered at once. Depending on variables, Leary could throw for 2,500 or 3,500. Just depends on the number of passing attempts, which depends in turn on the number of successful 3rd down conversions extending drives and a couple other factors.
