Preliminary ADM's are out for the current school year, anyone find it interesting to see that Shelby came in at 1,347 students? That would put them comfortably in the 6A classification. Only a slight increase from their 2024 reported enrollment of 792. Wonder what factors would contribute to an increase of 550 students in one year? Shelby must be one of the fasting growing towns in NC? Or they a really bad a counting? Who knows

Some of their opponents in this year's playoffs reported the following:
Lincolnton - 742
Mt. Airy - 581
East Rutherford - 682

Good luck to Shelby in this weeks "3A" state championship. Their opponent, Kinston, has a reported number of 659. That should be a fair fight.

That has to be Misprint or something on Shelby!!!

or someone lied like hell last year 🤣🤣 lmao

usually Shelby is upper 700’s— low 800’s.

but if they got 1,347 kids. They need to appeal. To move up next year

What is the link to these Preliminary ADMs' ? 581 would have possibly put Mount Airy in 2A, up one from 1A, like Starmount.

Something is wrong with that. Shelby has been in 7-800 range last 10 years.

I would think that someone messed up some numbers. While I was looking at the MA and Starmount comparison that was listed above, I saw that Statesville only has 835 but is a 6A school?

Edit: Statesville had 1244 in 2024. Numbers have to be off for 2025.

According to some in Cleveland County, Shelby is very good at moving the district lines when necessary. If this is correct, they can fix it by next realignment. 😂

I read it on the Cleveland County thread so I know it’s true!!

Isn’t there a Cleveland Early College in Shelby? Maybe the inflated numbers have to do with that? Don’t know if those students play sports at Shelby High or not. Don’t really know anything about it, I’ve just heard of it.

I pulled the data from NCHSAA for 2024 and 2025 and did a quick spreadsheet to see what were the largest differences. Here is what I found.

These are the ones that have lost over 200 students.

I was going to say no way Shelby is that high. However they should also have more kids than 700. Shelby and reidsville should both be 5a schools if the enrollment fit the actual city size . Along with a few other schools

Reidsville probably has about 50-75 kids that go to Rockingham.

Shelby jumping up by 500 kids? Page losing 900? Doesnt seem right, but easily could be.

Shelby don't won't NONE of Reidsville. We are the CapitO/Al of Football in North Carolina. Everybody knows it even people who twist 100 facts about Shelby. 23-19, Twenty-Three to Nineteen. 2-3 to 1-9. Read that you Hairy Legged Cheerleading SEA lions (when one says something the other two sit there barking and clapping waiting for the Cleveland Fans to throw each one of them a fish). Just playing. They can't take a joke. Calm down fellows, new keyboards won't be there til Christmas.

Yeah, 75 plus early college kids and some are going to mcmichael and morehead. Also some are even in guilford county. One kid that’s a good athlete lives in guilford county and goes to one of the city schools in Greensboro:

Thomasville has been losing 30-40 kids yearly for several years. A few more years of that and we’ll be on par with South Davidson.
