For the late (of this week) Mani Mounfield. I usually post live clips when I can find them, but theirs can be elusive. SR are monumentally underrated (or more precisely, underrecognized).

If you’re not familiar with this one and you like intense listen thru it.

One of my favorite albums of all time! Windfall is my favorite driving song. Left New Jersey for Kentucky in early August of 1997. My car (a 1986 Chevy Cavalier) developed a troubling issue of just stopping after it had been running for an hour or two if I had to slow down or stop. After sitting for an hour it would start back up and run again. So with that in mind, I left at 8 PM to hopefully avoid having to slow down or stop. So somewhere in the hills of western Maryland as I’m heading up a pretty steep incline, my car starts to sputter. Somehow I make it to the top but know it’s going to shutdown at any moment. I reach over to me boombox occupying the passenger seat and throw in the Trace CD (my car only played cassettes) and Windfall starts. I felt instantly calm. I hit repeat and prayed out loud for the next two hours with Windfall playing over and over the whole time. I pulled into Lexington, KY a little after 8AM after one stop for refueling that included a short nap. This is the song instant every road trip with.

On Sunday i was in NYC and went to see an interpretation of Quadrophenia. I took my cousins daughter -who is 26.

It was a wonderful interpretation of the soundtrack (plus a few other songs by The Who). While sitting there befire the performance Pete Townshend walked right past us-the place went crazy (although my niece didn't quite understand the fuss over some old dude)

Anyway she has been listening to the album since then and has texted me that this song has really struck a chord with her.

It's a beautiful song.
