Princeton grad transfer Ryan Langborg visiting NU this weekend

If you're Langborg, why would you join NU at this point? There are two incumbent all-conference guards who MIGHT return. Yes, one or both might bolt, but then again, maybe not. Have to imagine Langborg is looking for a place where he can jump in and start.
Starting line up = Buie, Langborg, Audige, Barnhizer, Nicholson. Berry, Martinelli, Preston coming off the bench. Mullins, Hunger, and Freshman(s) soaking up the rest of min and/or surprising and earning more min.
That would be a fun team to watch.
Why would he not have the mentality that he's going to arrive on campus and show the staff he belongs on the floor?
That might mean alot of open shots for Langborg? If I'm a shooter, I would love it. Ask Steve Kerr and John Paxson. How many open shots did Berry get (and miss) last year?
In a similar vein, I speculated previously on the Board that Buie and Audige might return if a good 3-pt shoot transferred in.
The question remains whether Langborg fits that bill. What explains his drop in 3-pt efficiency from 40% 2 seasons ago to 33% last season?
Could be any number of things. Might have been fighting through an injury. Maybe the defenses were more focused on his. He made 66 shots both years. In 2021-2 he took 163 shots and last year he took 199. That means he took about one more shot per game and missed it. Could be he was the guy they gave the ball to this season as the shot-clock would down, like Chase for us. And, frustratingly, it is a small enough sample that it could be just randomness.
I think Chase and Boo are ready to move on. This kid will help in multiple ways. Team is coming along

He can get the full ride plenty of other places, I’m sure, and probably better NIL money as well. Likewise your point about “potential.”

Free grad school at Northwestern? If a Princeton grad can think straight... its pretty much NU, Stanford, Duke, and Vanderbilt to choose from. I'm assuming he's not dreaming of making basketball his career... maybe there are a few more academically superior schools out there, but not many.
He's an econ major at Princeton. If he wants to keep that up, there are stellar private and public choices other than those four.
None of us is inside the dude's head, so who knows--it was just a non-rhetorical question. As I said, I hope he does come. If it's to join a roster already stocked w/BB and CA, I'll be surprised.
He isn’t going to get a starting, 30 minute a game role on a power 6 team, at least not very likely. If he wants to play in an elite conference he’s going to be a role contributor probably. NU is a good a place as many, and most that are a run better aren’t talking to him.
He isn’t leaving Princeton to crankily find more playing time, he’s leaving to extend his eligibility and play at a higher level. Get a scholarship. For a kid like that, I could see EXACTLY how playing at NU would be a welcome mix of something different (Big Ten basketball in some of the biggest venues and best opponents in the country) and something warmly familiar (smaller elite school, intelligent teammates, another great degree, some personal connections he likes).

Depending on his family's situation, could have been paying almost nothing to attend Princeton, but yeah, free grad school w/ some NIL $$ would be nice.
Plenty of great grad programs at the Public Ivies, plus there are the Domers and USC.

Once a guy like Langborg graduates, I think he can't play unless he transfers.

I don't think Princeton would have finished last in the Big10, maybe as high as the middle, and this guy was one of Princeton's two or three best players. Therefore he is probably the caliber of a Big10 starter.
He could have an academic motive like wanting to get into Kellogg or something, Maybe something like that MS in Management Studies for students coming straight from college to grad school?
I watched him live in Sacramento before the Cats played UCLA. I'm sure Collins can find meaningful minutes for him. Also, kudos to the Princeton fans who traveled to see a 15 seed.
Evan Miya has Princeton rated below Wisconsin and above Nebraska for last season.
Sagarin has Princeton just barely behind Nebraska. Minnesota a distant 14th.
Evan Miya has Langborg as the 14th best player in the Ivy League, slightly behind 3 teammates. He rates as the 616th best player in D1, right next to Trey Galloway (Indiana) and Max Klesmit (Wisconsin).
Obviously the margin of error on those ratings is pretty large, but it is reasonable to think Langborg is capable of being a rotation player in the Big Ten, while not an "average" starter. His value depends on how he fits the roster.

Reporters report. It’s a nice courtesy that Lou affords players, and maybe he gets more info for us Rock subscribers as a result - and Rivals may well prioritize subscribers over scoops as a result. But it’s certainly not a violation of any kind of journalistic ethics to report news. They’re not members of the program, they’re not fans. They’re media. And most media outlets do prioritize scoops. This is very fair game from iNU.
