Just read on twitter that Kennard is quoted as saying, "not everyone is bought into winning and being as one". Hopefully we get this stuff figured out soon!

I think it's apparent there is some issues amongst the guys but Coach will work it out. I could see a Bolden rocking the boat over playing time or something to that sort. Just my opinion though

K was calling the starters soft from the bench all night. Bolden looked like he was waiting at the dentist. The team chemistry sucks at the moment.

Is it possible he was referring to Grayson and is his way of calling him out without name dropping?

I personally don't see a lack of effort. They harassed them into a ton of turnovers. Elon only shot 40%. The problem was not making shots. Wide open 3s. They make a couple of them early, the ball starts to snowball and we hit more. It's two bad shooting nights.

Yes we need something from Bolden. But for big guys, it's hard to catch up when missing time. I think he's a bit frustrated but understandable. Just keep playing and get better.

I also think the team has hit the chemistry problem of adding guys, especially Tatum. It didn't show at first but with Tatum getting better and more minutes, I think it's disrupted things a bit.

I guess there is plenty of time to right the ship, it's frustrating to see back to back struggles against two inferior teams. I find it hard to believe any of the other top 7 or 8 teams would have this outcome with these two teams. Chemistry is a concern and definitely see lack of heart. Maybe it's Grayson adjusting to not being the man, or all the news surrounding Giles, Maybe Bolden is not happy, who knows. This team reminds me so much of the 13-14 team with Hood and Parker, a lot of firepower but can't put it together and can't get it on defense.

One of the biggest problems with this team so far is that Frank Jackson is not a pure point guard or at least hasn't proven it yet. We'll give him a free pass if he's playing hurt. He needs to get into lane and dish it to the open shooters instead of being stagnant and continually hoisting up contested shots from the perimeter. Thornton caught everyone by surprise when he decided to transfer, but a lot of people on this board thought that Jackson was a major upgrade. We weren't getting Lonzo Ball or Fox so there might not have been a better option. Maybe Dennis Smith if we recruited him harder. Once Jackson starts to develop, there will be more fluidity with the offense and maybe some of the squabbling in the locker room will go away.

Koubek...You said a mouthful there. No true PG is a huge problem in my eyes. Duke plays best when Allen is on the court and it was evident tonight. I think he is the best distributor they have honestly. Let's see if he gets it.

My guess is he was talking about Tatum. 22 shots, really?

No idea what's going on with Bolden, he doesn't look anywhere close to the player we saw in the exhibition games.

Agree that not having a natural distributor is really contributing to our ugly O. The good news is that our D is looking really good, and that's w/o Bolden or Giles making an impact yet.

I think we'll be fine but these last 2 games have been head scratchers.

We still have a long way to go, we haven't even hit ACC play yet. I know we have a team that is capable of winning it all and chemistry is forged through fire and these remarks are part of that fire. I am looking forward to watching the die cast throughout the season and see what we have come ACC/NCAA tournament time. No matter what I just love watching Duke play basketball and will cherish every second. I have faith in K and our staff. As Rafa Nadal would say, "we gonna see"

I think he was talking in generalities....even including himself. Moreso that they haven't bought in as a "team" yet.

But yes, 22 shots from Tatum is too many...especially when not within the offense. He stopped the ball a lot and settled for contested jumpers. He has to be better.

This is like a college basketball horror story. How do you take 8 future NBA players in college and not be that good.

Question is, can the story turn around and be a happy ending with a championship?

I think the expectations are just so crazy high that anything less than a blow-out win with everyone hittin' on all cylinders is gonna be interpreted as a disappointment. Those comments from Luke ARE disturbing though. Fortunately , K has a little experience molding collections of elite talent into cohesive teams. If there are chemistry issues , well , if anyone can get it figured out , it's K. I'll point to his massive success coaching international ball as Exhibit A. That said , there was UF and UNLV and now there's TSU and Elon...and Grayson's stunt. No idea what kinda team Duke looks like next time they play. None.

While I agree 22 is too many it is the type of shots. However after last game K was saying he wasn't shooting enough. Basically it's a learning experience for him too. Just because he got back into the flow first of the three frosh who were hurt (& now seems all 5 have been hurt or are) doesn't mean that he's not still learning how to integrate into the flow.

Look it was two ****** games after a long break. No other way to slice it and then you add the Grayson tripping and the whole CBB goes haywire- espn has four or five links about it on their homepage. Including as I KNEW they would - the Dana oniel piece that they have now posted three times in six months.

This team has had more adversity thrown their way in a few months than most teams even sniff in an entire season and post season combined. If we are still having major issues come February color me concerned but we have gotttt to stay patient here.

Defensively these last two games have been pretty good ...just missing some shots...and the two Elon centers hit 6 or 7 3's

I'm just now watching the game and am at the 5 minute left mark in th 2nd. To me, Bolden doesn't look any different then any other game. He just doesn't exhibit much emotion but he doesn't seem any more ticked off than usual to me.

I get a sense that maybe he's just not particularly emotive. However , he can ( and DOES ) look disengaged...a lot. The reason I notice this is because he rides pine...a lot. Who knows? He's a big man recovering from injury and maybe he's just not ready for 30+ minutes. I think we can all agree that , given the OAD status of those 3 , K is not gonna hurry anything. It is , after all , only December. Would rather have everyone healthy for later instead of rushing things now. That said , I'm ready to see that kid look anywhere NEAR what he did early.

Guess how many assists Luke had tonight
He might not have had any assists tonight but that doesn't really mean anything because as a team we only had 7 assists in tonight's game. Through 13 games this season he's had 37 assists for an average of 2.8 apg and his 37 assists for the season is second on the team behind Grayson with 42 for the season for an average of 3.2 apg.

So far, this season feels cursed. With all the injuries and now with Grayson's thing plus Luke's comments, doesn't look good. In today's media and social media world these kinds of stories can have major impacts. Grayson is and will continue to get ripped to shreds, that's going to have an impact. It's almost certain that there will be article's written about what Luke said, perhaps someone will write something speculating who he was talking about.

I still hope they can turn it around but it just might not be our year.

I think this Christmas break is coming at the right time for the Duke basketball team, staff and Duke fans. Even DI. Let us do some reflecting and get some rest. Every things gonna be alright. OFC

Not only does body language seem off, but on offense, so many plays are just one pass and then shoot. On paper, we are ridiculously talented; we just haven't figured out how to play together yet. To be fair, our team wasn't looking so hot around this time the last time we won the NT. We just have to work out chemistry.

Things have really looked off all year except Vegas. I thought it was just high expectations, makes appreciating harder. But it's becoming clear K has his work cut out. If locker room is good, things will be fine. No doubt the on court things will come around if that's all there is to it

The rotations are tough to figure out. Hard to think we could ever say to many after last year but I think that's playing Into some of this. There are very few roles carved out yet. Grayson has been off all year. Its odd, but I think K brings them around quickly at whatever expense.

Let's be honest folks. We won the Championship 2 seasons ago without a regular season or tournament title. We actually haven't even won an ACC crown since 2010 & 2011. Our rotation is freshman heavy.

Meaning it's all about March with this team. Boom or bust. It will be a "frustrating" but also highly promising ACC schedule.
