Final tuneup before the season at Gately. Each team plays two halves against different opponents. Invite all semi finalists from 5,6,7,8A divisions plus institutional powerhouses until you get 6 teams per classification. No special teams and running clock. All extra points are 2 pt conversions. Team 1 in 5A and Team 6 in 8A only get one half, Team 2 plays 2nd half against Team 3 who plays second half against Team 4 and so on. You could run 6 teams per division and bridge the divisions by having Team 6 of 5A play their 2nd half vs Team 1 of 6A. The whole thing could be played in 11 hours that could be broken into Friday night and Saturday, or all day Saturday.
Imagine how much fun it would be to bring all the great teams together to set the tone for the year. We did this back in Northern Virginia and it was a huge hit. Some used as fundraisers, boys used as measuring stick. New rivalries were started and you were guaranteed an experience against a team not on your schedule. It wouldn't have to be strictly semi teams but at least you would earn the invite. Schedulers work with coaches to adjust for things like in conference match ups being avoided. It would create an opportunity to cross classifications where someone like GW played a MC in 1st half, then Loyola for their 2nd half.
