We begged for ours kids to be in school last year. Told them the damage it was doing. Good article to remember for November when current school board members need to be voted out.

That’s great that mental health is now more of a focus and it sounds like your school is doing great work. Truly sounds like they have a good working plan. If I were you, I would be very proud of the work you do. You are making a difference. My kids need it and I appreciate what you do. With that said, obviously last year kids did suffer from effects of being at home and not getting the face to face help you are describing or not getting any help at all for that matter last year. That is the frustration..parents were screaming kids need help like what your school does, need to be in person, yet the parents were ignored. I don’t know how you qualify how much of the contacts were due to more staff available vs how much is from kids staying at home majority of last year, but article says they are surprised how much damage was done. They shouldn’t be surprised if they listened. And if they are being honest, they aren’t really surprised I think. If increase is due to more staff, then they should know they added more staff and again shouldn’t be surprised. If you want to get right down to the numbers, there are more contacts because there are more mental health professionals in schools now. And that started slightly before the pandemic, I believe August of 2019. That means that there are significantly more opportunities to meet with more kids who need help in general. I’m pretty sure that overall there are more cases of mental health contacts in the general population now than there has ever been.
Not saying that there are not cases that were caused by being home all the time, but the statistics would back up an overall increase in contact due to more opportunities and more time to check in with kids.
By the way, where was this outrage when it exploded from 74k contacts to 220k? There wasn’t any because of the same reasons. More professionals in a school means more contacts.
My school has a crew that meets at least weekly during lunch with our mental health specialist. 4 kids for 20 minutes just meet and talk. As soon as that’s over, she goes in and logs that as a contact for 4 kids like she is supposed to. Do that weekly, that’s 144 contact just by having lunch with a small group of kids.
If anything, all of this has made mental health more of a priority for kids, especially those who don’t always show particular outward evidence of mental health issues. Those kids normally would have g]fallen between the cracks because there just weren’t enough people available to get to everyone, especially in schools that have a greater ratio of issues. We have two counselors, a mental health specialist, and a psychologist just for out]r little school. I’m proud of that.
No hindsight by parents. We lived thru it and saw it every day in our homes as the tragedy unfolded. We knew then what we know now. Parents knew what was best for their kids. All we ever asked for was choice in sending our kids to school. The hindsight experts have arrived

Some need to learn how to live as a functioning human being without having to resort to needing professional psychiatric help because they can't socialize all the time. Folks, it's OK to have time to yourself.
But I'm glad they are seeking help. Better than just ignoring it and trying to power through it, that's not healthy long term.
If enjoying some solitude is dull, then I'll gladly be dull. But don't worry, I'd rather become a Duke fan than have children.-it's a story about children. You are either *incredibly* dull or a terrible person. Please do not breed.
What does that mean?I hope these kids take it out on the ones who did it.

He wrote 500 words complaining about a wrestling PPV that he didn’t even watch. I can assure you he’s not having sex.-ok, it appears you're not a terrible person, just dull (meaning "not sharp"). Carry on...and please use a condom for humanity's sake.
He wants the kids to slaughter the elderly. We made them psycho killers through the COVID lockdowns. Joe Rogan told me this. What does that mean?
What does that mean?
Seriously though, my kids know who did this to them and will always vote accordingly. They will never take for granted who is running for school boards, county commissioners, mayors, judge exec, or Ky Supreme Court Justices.
If there was ever a doubt that the left had a lock on education, this absolutely revealed it. They controlled what they could control from our governor on down. They still do to this day. Education is the last segment of society to return to normal and the least affected by covid.
I had one kid in athletics and one in the arts. If it weren't for the sports parents, you still wouldn't have activities at school. It was the sports parents that pushed and got you what ever freedoms back in school. The arts parents just obeyed, shrugged shoulders, or cheer leaded for it to go on. Those kid's young identity is based on what they are involved. A lot of one group was willing to sacrifice their children's education and well being for this. They convinced themselves that children are resilient and there will always be time to catch up.
Did you have statewide band competitions in 2020-2021? Why not? They happened in red states.
Sports happened.
All of those covid protocols were dreamed up by one side and not pushed back hard enough by the other.
I live close enough to Missouri to know that they didn't have mandatory masks in school, but one party made them wear them on the bus ride to get to and from.
Missouri didn't have the ridiculous spacing on their buses. They didn't have gymnasium capacity restrictions in 2020-2021. They didn't cancel classes unless they were out of teachers/subs. When they did shut down, they were always looking for the quickest solution to open up. The decisions were made daily/weekly, not 30 days or semester. My wife's hometown only shut down for two separate weeks in 2020-2021. They have not shut down this year. Statewide in Kentucky, we have just come around to that.
After two years Missouri has 279 deaths per 100000 and Kentucky has 290/100000. Total population vaxxed for both states is nearly equal at 54-55%.
Every measure we took with our children in Ky had no positive bearing on the outcome of covid.
What have we done?

No, those were people with foresight who warned of issues and in typical fashion, as always, those in the groupthink squad called them names and blindly follow the approved narrative by their masters. The hindsight experts have arrived
Meh . . head back over to the Joe Rogan Experience and FAUX News to get your next talking points. No, those were people with foresight who warned of issues and in typical fashion, as always, those in the groupthink squad called them names and blindly follow the approved narrative by their masters.
Then when inevitably proven wrong, do the blind sheep apologize? Nope. Double down. Make the same damn mistakes again. Listen to the same career liars again and never question anything.
