This game intrigues me. Kankakee played LWE tough before losing by 8. Their other “loss” is a forfeit loss for using an ineligible player. The Kays appear to be a strong 5A contender. Provi is not the same team after the coaching change. Giving up 53 points at home in Week 9 to an option team (albeit a good one in Ignatius)? They did have a quality win against Fenwick post Plantz. Not sure what to make of this game.

I got PC winning convincingly. The week 2 LWE game is doing a lot of heavy lifting and I dont think LWE had hit its stride on offense yet. The Crete Monee and LWW games are probably better representations of where the Kays are at than the 1 score game with the #1 team in Chicagoland.

And the Kay's beat CM by 3 scores and LWW by 2 scores. That would lead me to believe that they could stay with Providence.

Should be the top round 1 game and winner walks to the finals to face Franny.
I'm thinking this weekends game will be the toughest of that side of the bracket for SF. I don't see any other school in the north bracket challenging them.

All of their losses have been to 8a teams (except Naz in 6a). These are probably the two betting favorites in 5a.
The iHSA playoff system slots the team primarily on record. Who a team played only really matters to determine where teams with the same record slotted on the seed line and even then it doesn’t care if the loss was to 1A or 8A

Every year it seems they wet the bed in the playoffs. No kicker or miss an extra point or short field goal. Same with Simeon
Yep, Morris played them 2 years ago and people said MP would win and prevent another Morris/JCA game. MP I believe had 4 turnovers in the first quarter and was never able to recover.

The unknown factor in these Provi matchups or potential matchups is the state of mind of the Provi team. I know they are not the same team after the coaching change. Are Kankakee or MP good enough to take advantage of that? Will the Provi players rally around the cause and play for each other, despite what they may think of the interim coach, administration or school in general? Sometimes a perceived injustice can unite a team. Sometimes it can divide. We shall see.

Thanks for definitively answering the question. I wish I had your keen insight. It gives me pause when I see a team that hangs their hat on defense give up 53 points in Week 9.
Anomaly's happen. I really don't think anyone on the field 2 weeks ago was wondering how their previous coach would have handled the option.

Because the dust has settled and there is nothing to see for the remainder of the season. Will there be a mass exodus in the offseason from Provi? Possibly, and then there's another story, but week to week in season games are nothing to see as much as 99% of you desperately crave the gossip and drama.

That's the beauty of a public forum, I don't care what you think of my opinion.

A very small percentage of people who post about the Tyler Plantz story, say that it will:
1) hurt this season
2) has hurt this season
3) will cause some kind of Mass Exodus the PC football team

At most there are several posters that WONDER if this could effect secondary things. Well, it's possible because it's still a very big story, in spite of the 500 pound leech Mini-mees that you throw at every post that mentions what happened.

Personally, I now despise Providence for the first time in my adult life for what they did to their Head Coach. And I will continue to despise them until their Admin comes out with a really good reason for what they did. (Which will be never!)

For me and many others, it will always be a big high school football story. I want to know why I now despise a school I had some fondness and admiration for, not so long ago.

At Least, Quit being the Leech that you are.

How would you know that “the dust has settled”? You don’t have inside knowledge of the school or program. Is it still an issue with the team? I don’t know. Neither do you. To state otherwise, very definitively, is delusional.

This is my last response to you on this topic.

What are you talking about? The question was whether these two teams would be the favorites in 5a. Their 4 losses all came to teams in larger classes who all have a pretty good chance to win their respective class.

Idk. Being on the sidelines with these kids, they can be very attached to the previous coach. Esp when the coach was let go midseason. Kids question what the previous coach from last year would have done all the time

Kankakee by 2 scores. Can't simulate speed and quickness at practice.
While I agree that you can't simulate speed in practice, this is by no means the first time this year that the Celtics have seen a team with speed. Naz, MC, Kenwood all have speed all over the field.

PC lost to Naz (2 scores), lost to MC (blowout), and beat Kenwood (2 scores). IMO, Kankakee is Kenwood with more athletes, better coaching, and played a tougher schedule. Kankakee lost by 1 score to LWE and "beat" LWW even though they had to forfeit. Not saying PC can't win, but as soon as they give up some big TDs, the hecklers in the stands will question the defensive play calling and the kids can hear that on the sideline (then they start to question), especially at an away game. I don't think their defensive plan has been as solid as it was before the HC change. Will be a very interesting game.

I plan to catch some of this game. Who are some of the players to watch on Kankakee?

Just curious was there any other coaching changes at PC and who’s calling the offense (obviously intern HC) and the defense?
I think PC is favorite but wouldn’t be shocked if Kankakee won. LWE was on full stride knocking off BR week 1, maybe overlooked Kankakee but highly doubt it with that staff.

Rooting for the Kays, but when is the last time Kank beat a CCL team? Without looking up anything, it seems like they have been on the wrong end of some close losses over the year.

Not sure about regular season, but as far as I know, the Kays have never beaten a CCL team in the playoffs.
