As some may know, today begins the PSU BOT election process - ballots can be submitted beginning today (and until May 2)

To vote? You can go to this link:
YesElections: Online Ballot

When you do, you should find this page:

(Yes, it does say this is for the "nomination" process.... but after you enter your info it should take you to the actual voting ballot. We need better proofreaders at PSU :) )

After entering your info, you should be directed to the ballot, which looks like this:

1712754569551.png

Make your picks (1, 2, or 3 candidates) and submit. You should then get a confirmation.

Isn’t the idea to vote FOOTBALL. o_O ?

Short, McGloin, Nassib. What else is there for our university to consider?

In all seriousness, I could see Nassib doing more than FOOTBALL. o_O rah-rah. Of course, I could be naive.

I cannot imagine how anyone with the slightest awareness of what Wagman and Short have done during their tenures could even consider voting for them. I really don't.

Nassib has not indicated that he has the faintest idea of what the Board's purpose even is.

That pretty much leaves you with two supportable candidates.

Nassib paid attention in FIN301 and now everyone thinks he’s Warren Buffett. Pass on all these clowns.

Nassib is a very likeable guy, but has nowhere near the experience to contribute to running a $9B enterprise. And that can be said for a few other Alumni BOTs as well. It's become a name recognition-based popularity contest (Short, Jay, Ali, now others) and that has not served our best interests.
Blindly voting, without challenge, for all tuition hikes is a head scratcher when it directly opposes the platform you ran on.
We need more noise-makers, even as marginalized as the powers make sure they are, to at least stimulate discussion and awareness by the alumni and legislature.

I just saw Sue only endorsed McGloin and De Levie... where there's smoke/fire on what Lubrano said about Brandon Short? He thinks Sue is a racist? Either way, Brandon will never get another vote from me.... he claims to care about making college affordable? All lip service. Cares about Joe and his legacy? All lip service.

Edit:
I want to be very clear - of all the votes I've cast, I'm proudest of my vote for Barry. If only our Board could be comprised of more Barrys. Barry, I mean this sincerely, thank you for continuing to be the nail in their side - I realize you have no ability to change a damn thing the way the Board is constructed, but I follow what you've done and I sincerely appreciate it.

Barry had some bad Twitter stuff he removed a while ago but also the only person worthy of a vote. Skipping out this year unless I can do a write in.

Don't skip out. Vote for the three that aren't named Short and Wagman. The board has been trying to do away with Alumni representation and a lack of voters gives them more ammo to pull that off. Besides, Short is a racist and Wagman is a punk.

Or better yet, vote only for the 2 whom we know are qualified.

Believe it or not, PS4RS is still around. They hosted the call below on Monday. Did anyone attend this call?

I will say this Bob:

Unlike many (most?) previous challenger candidates - who seemed to AirDrop into the election process with nothing but a "name" (we all know a lot of folks like that) - McGloin has been approachable, communicative, and has clearly shown that he has a pretty good idea (as much as any outsider could be expected to have) regarding many of the important issues vav PSU.
He has shown up to some of the BOT meetings. He has been out and about in town and campus. He responds (meaningfully) to questions and concerns. He does stuff (like that call you linked) to open channels of communication, and provide opportunities for Q&A.

I hope he is one of the three. If so, time will tell if potential translates into actions. But, at worst, it couldn't hurt if he took one of those seats.
Looking at the incumbents? I will absolutely 100% certify that I would like - and need - more help and support. One person can do only so much (that probably sounds like a cop out, but its the truth). Of the three incumbents currently up for re-election, DeLevie is - without question - the one with the most potential to be helpful (and the only with with any potential to be helpful).

Let me ask this - what else does McGloin have to do?

Generally speaking, a County Commissioner has more Policy, Planning, Governing, and Budgeting experience than 90% of that board.

I suppose - generally speaking:

Bill Gaughan - Bill has several years of experience in public service. First, he worked as an equal opportunity specialist in the City of Scranton's Office of Economic and Community Development from 2011 to 2013. He was elected to Scranton City Council in 2014 and served for eight years. He served as Public Works chairperson from 2014 to 2020. He was selected by his colleagues to be the President of the City Council from 2020 to 2022.

Chris Chermak - A graduate of Abington Heights High School, Chris grew up working in the family automotive business Joseph Chermak. Inc., Clarks Summit. Starting out in the shop many years ago to eventually taking over as General Manager of the multi-franchise dealership. At a very young age, Chris learned early the value of hard work, honesty, and ethical business practices.

Chris is very active in the community and is a long-time member of the Clarks Summit Fire Company. He is a First Responder and a member of the National Ski Patrol Member at Elk Mountain ski resort. Chris also serves as a Basic Life Support and CPR instructor for Commonwealth Health Emergency Services and the American Heart Association, respectively; an EMS Volunteer for the Steamtown Marathon; and a past member of the Clarks Summit Planning Commission.

Matt McGloin's bio is 50% Penn State football and 50% Matt McGloin Fund/Family.

Not saying you're wrong.

It is your vote to do with as you see fit. Just be advised that voting for a 3rd candidate simply for the sake of voting for 3 can have unintended consequences.
I'm not voting for a 3rd candidate for the sake of voting for 3. I'm voting for a 3rd candidate in a attempt to get Short and Wagman off the BOT. I don't know how Nassib will do, but he can't possibly be worse than Short and Wagman. Even if he pulls an Ali and doesn't show up or vote he'll be better.

I agree with your logic - we know what we have with Short and Wagman. Nassib is an unknown, but he can't be worse.

Has this post been reviewed and approved by the Office of Strategic Communications?
Like all the spoken/written thoughts of BoT members are expected to be?

Seriously, @PSUFTG2 thank you for your efforts.

This is the subtle way that you just found out you never graduated.

If you attended a different campus use that one as your graduation campus. Maybe that will work, it did for me.

I used the ballot in my e-mail inbox and it took about 20 seconds to vote. Wasn't sure who to give the third vote to, but seems like Nassib was the best option (agree with Midnighter though, where the guy had a tad bit of common sense in a minute clip on a TV show, and suddenly everyone thinks he's a financial savant). Based on Barry's chart/info, voting for the three that weren't Short/Wagman seemed like the best decision.

My last communication was with the Alumni Association and was what the diplomats would call "a frank exchange of views". I suspect I've been scrubbed.
It's much more likely that the device you're using, your browser, and/or your security software is having a problem with opening the site.
