That’s a lot of points. I know nothing about UMass so no opinion. The only really interesting game I see is that ND is a 2.5 point pick over what has been a disappointing USC team. The game is in South Bend. I’m thinking USC wins outright over a bad ND team. After ND’s bad loss to Louisville and USC’s almost giving the game away late to Colorado it’s hard to put faith in either team. I don’t trust USC’s defense but ND just got manhandled but they are playing at home. I suppose USC has the better QB and I’ll go with that. The other game of interest is that Wisconsin is a big favorite at home against Iowa. Again, I never bet but I’ll be rooting for the Badgers to put an end to Iowa’s dreams of a B10 West conference championship. Md is favored to bounce back against Illinois and Rutgers is favored against MSU.

Should be a couple of interesting games but only for us that follow the B1G. Illinois is pretty bad but they have 2 absolute studs on the DL so I will be watching them against MD's OL.
I saw another MSU player is portaling, 3rd string RB.

May not matter, but take note of the weather prediction for Saturday before giving the points.

Well, PSU only beat UMass by 41 last time, so I am hard pressed to believe Penn State will exceed that differential.

Take UMass this weekend.

Given the large spread, it will actually be interesting to see if James is aggressive to cover if it is late in the game and we are not far enough ahead yet.

Jaxson Smolik will fake a hand off, fake taking a knee, and then fire a 60 yard pass to a wide open Kevin Rapplyea for touchdown, giving Penn State a 41-0 lead with 2 seconds left. The extra point is missed when the holder miss handles the snap, and Penn State does not cover.

Franklin gets fired.

I had the same thought. Given the potential for poor weather conditions and OSU on deck, I wouldn't be surprised if he does not in this case. Still, I would absolutely not bet UMass.

I really don't like the Minutemen nickname. Do they have cheers, e.g., We are...Minutemen? Do graduates refer to themselves as Minutemen?

Do students wear Minutemen hoodies?

Do students know the historical reference? Do their fans?

I don't know. This nickname bothers me.

UMassholes.
That's a good one. I always think of Bah...stan baseball and football fans when I hear the Massholes phrase. I actually know someone that is really a Masshole. I mean, seriously, he literally makes a scoffing sound if you say anything about the Patriots or for instance, say you are a Steelers fan. He also refers to 'the Cape' as if he's going back to Batman's lair.

Let's temper the optimism. Don Brown is the opposing coach. If he's running the UMass D too, PSU will be lucky to get a first down. He's considered a "defensive genius" by some. That isn't to confuse him with a real genius like Carl Friedrich Gauss or Richard Feynman, but you get the point.

I've got this one as 58-13 PSU but that's before any bad weather gets factored in. This is one of those games where you'd bet the first half number (likely to be around -25) and get out of Dodge. Don't take the points because betting on a bad team is not usually a good idea. UMASS does have a running QB so that will need to be accounted for. Other than that, nothing about them really look to be a problem. So my score prediction has us for another cover but not by much this time.

(Past predictions/results -- WVU 38-10 (38-15), UD 52-6 (63-7), Ill 38-13 (30-13), Iowa 27-10 (31-0), NW 44-9 (41-13))
