Nothing is guaranteed but I'd say it's a lock (almost). The record is 76 in a row set over seventy years ago. Add two more wins for this season (Illinois and American). That means winning the first six next season will do it. What would be great is if PSU scheduled OkSU OOC for 25-26. That would set up the plot of PSU needing to beat the very team whose record they're trying to break. It'd be awesome.

I've been on this site since the Plotit days. For the youngsters, there was a period when posting pics of scantily clad members of the female persuasion was popular and prevalent.

I saw the title of the thread and thought the old rules were back..... :sneaky:

Big ten better not screw with this record when scheduling next year. Ok state holds the record and I would think the big ten would want it. But then again….

You never know. We lost to asu in 2019 breaking 60 win streak. Osu and iowa lost to Oklahoma to end their streaks. You never know until you get the record. I hope they don’t say let’s schedule osu and iowa before we reach 77. Cause you never know. We already beat the best during the streak so no need to prove it early next year. There is a reason that this record stood for 75 years. Just sayin.

This past season, PSU wrestled 6 duals (Drexel, Lehigh, Wyoming, Binghamton, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Missouri) before the BIG schedule began. Doesn't PSU determine their own schedule prior to the BIG schedule?

Who wants to beat the record beating a bunch of pansies? I am sure the coaches and wrestlers don't.

They already beat the best. Why push your luck. Osu does graduate 6 seniors this year. Should be good match this Sunday vs iowa.

Not the best if they can't beat iowa or Oklahoma state next year. Oklahoma was a top team back then.

I'm sure the coaches don't care about the record one way or another.
Dual meets wins are nice, but improving wrestlers to be their best for the individual championships is their goal.

Don't give the Big 10 an opportunity to screw it up by scheduling an away meet for our sixth dual next year. Schedule six duals before the Big 10 schedule, like this year, and control our own fate. I'm torn on the idea of it being with Oklahoma State. It would be an in your face thing I don't like. And if we win, there will be yahoos who will say Taylor either choked of tanked against his old team/coach.

Watch out for the National Duals next year, if we compete there. It is supposed to be in November, early in the season. Top 16 teams that accept get in. If so, the road to the record gets tougher, but certainly achievable with our returning line-up.

I don’t get it. Who is altering the schedule? Cael?
Someone said in a previous post, that they hope the schedule makers don't screw it up. Basically inferring not to schedule anyone tough until after the record is broke. Read the beginning of the thread.

Yes. But its number of duals in November and December before the Big Ten season starts in January has fluctuated over the years, and six is more than normal.

I think your logic is weak. Since their last loss some five or six years ago. They have wrestled against top 5 teams (most years multiple top five teams), and beaten them. So the coming year assuming they beat American. by you logic, if there are not any top teams on the front end of their schedule, they are undeserving. If they win their first 6 matches regardless of the opponents and regardless of how the schedule is created (favorable or not), they will be deserving.
It is somewhat the luck of the draw that the opportunity is at the front end of their schedule. As with most sports teams. The schedule is typically easier at the beginning and becomes more difficult as the season progresses. They had to do a lot of work to get to this point, I don't care if schedule Bishop McCort next fall. If they get to 77 in a row, they deserve to be considered the best ever.

I think that they meant the streak is broken at home and not on the road. Or maybe they were concerned that the B1G would schedule several top ranked opponents in a row leading up to the record to just make it difficult.
I'm not concerned either way. PSU will probably be favored in 6+ matches no matter the opponent.

I think this is just irrelevant. It seems like people are getting upset over something that hasn't happened and has no evidence of happening. This right here is the problem. People work themselves up over something that hasn't even happened to the point where it doesn't even matter anymore because their emotions over it are real. Whenever it doesn't happen you have a bunch of people upset about it anyways.

I don't know what is so difficult about this. I don't think anyone said they aren't deserving, just that the schedular shouldn't manipulate the schedule so they wouldn't have to face tough teams until after they break the record. If Oklahoma state is scheduled in the first 6 meets so be it. I think it would be awesome to break it against a top team. Though it would be nice if was a home meet.
