Nicholas Singleton marks latest Senior Bowl entrant for Penn State
Penn State senior running back Nicholas Singleton has already suited up as a Nittany Lion for the final time in his college career. He’ll wear the white helmet with the blue stripe one final time before embarking on his professional career, though.
Announced on Tuesday afternoon, Singleton has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama next month. The game is set for Saturday, Jan. 31.
With Singleton’s decision, he becomes the fifth Nittany Lion out of the senior class to accept an invitation to participate in the Senior Bowl. Other invited players who have also accepted spots in the Senior Bowl include fellow running back Kaytron Allen, plus defensive linemen Zane Durant and Dani Dennis-Sutton, as well as safety Zakee Wheatley.
Nicholas Singleton sets Penn State records
Though Singleton’s final season in Happy Valley did not go as he’d anticipated, struggling out of the gates before settling into a rep distribution with Allen in the back half of the campaign, his career marks are set as he moves onto the next phase.
Ending the year at Rutgers, his 9 carries for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns helped lift him to two new marks. He became the all-time career touchdowns record-holder with 54, and improved his career rushing touchdowns number to 44.

“Obviously this year wasn’t what I expected (or what) the whole team expected,” Singleton said ahead of the Rutgers game. “But I wouldn’t trade it for nothing. These last four years at Penn State meant a lot to me, my teammates, coaches and obviously my family back at home. So to go out there this Saturday to get a win, especially my senior night, will just mean a lot.
“I want to get a lot of records, the rushing touchdown record, the total touchdown record, just being that type of player for my teammates and all that. The fans could talk about me when I leave, obviously, very good player I was, very good teammate I was. That type of legacy I just want to leave, especially at that point.”
On the season, he finished with 123 carries for 549 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns to go along with 219 yards and 1 touchdown receiving on 24 catches for the year.
