I don't know what is so difficult about this. I don't think anyone said they aren't deserving, just that the schedular shouldn't manipulate the schedule so they wouldn't have to face tough teams until after they break the record. If Oklahoma state is scheduled in the first 6 meets so be it. I think it would be awesome to break it against a top team. Though it would be nice if was a home meet.
PSU would most likely control the opponent when for the first 6 or 7 duals of the season.
I have no idea how the OOC duals are scheduled. I doubt anyone on this board does given that we are always waiting for the schedule in October. 🤣
Conference duals usually do not start until after the new year. So, that should not impact this.

I've been on this site since the Plotit days. For the youngsters, there was a period when posting pics of scantily clad members of the female persuasion was popular and prevalent.

I saw the title of the thread and thought the old rules were back..... :sneaky:

As it was written, Cael & the boys are continuing their assault on the wrestling records!

@Tom McAndrew you need not beg me anymore my friend. You may now lift yourself off of your knees as I have reconsidered your pleas to have me provide my overall analysis of this team's performance after each record breaking match.

My arrogance does have its limits, so I encourage any and all PSU wrestling fans to provide any personal insight they wish to share about this team's record breaking journey.

Can someone list the top five winning streaks for college wrestling? Division 1.
Okc, PSU, Okc, Iowa , PSU :

The **top five longest dual meet winning streaks** in NCAA Division I men's college wrestling history (including pre-divisional eras when top programs competed at the major college level) are:

1. **76** — Oklahoma State (1937–1951)
This remains the all-time major college/Division I record, set before formal divisions existed.

2. **69** — Oklahoma State (two separate streaks: one from 1921–1932 and another from 1996–1999)
Tied for the second-longest.

3. **69** — Iowa (2007–2011)
Tied with Oklahoma State's marks; ended by a tie against Oklahoma State.

4. **60** — Penn State (pre-2019 streak, ended by Arizona State in 2019)
A dominant run under coach Cael Sanderson.

5. **71+ (ongoing as of late 2025)** — Penn State (started post-2020, ongoing)
As of October 2025, Penn State had reached 71 straight wins (the longest in the modern Division I era since 1973). By February 2025 reports, it had grown to at least 70, and the Nittany Lions were positioned to challenge or surpass the all-time record of 76 during the 2025–26 season.

These records come from sources like the NWCA, NCAA documentation via historian Jason Bryant, and consistent reporting across wrestling outlets. Penn State's current streak has already made it one of the greatest in history and the clear Division I-era leader.

It looks like they left Penn State at five because it was ongoing. Obviously the streak isn't over yet so they were placing them behind the other four that were already established.

@Wrestleknownothing got any stats on the run? Matches won-lost. Pins, techs, etc?
Sadly, no. I have almost no data on the regular season. Maybe wrestlestat could produce something given their wealth of regular season data?

Edit: I just emailed wrestlestat support, let's see if anyone responds.

You've got to be careful trusting A.I. I used chat GPT to quick reference stats and other information and started finding issues and incorrect information and now I don't trust it much at all.
Must be what the brands use for practice routine. Chat gbt be like push them til they are injured
