You've got to be careful trusting A.I. I used chat GPT to quick reference stats and other information and started finding issues and incorrect information and now I don't trust it much at all.
You have to know which AI to use for what purpose and also double-check/edit for accuracy. As a scientist, I primarily use perplexity and consensus, while ChatGPT is essentially worthless. ChatGPT is great for other things; I've used it to put together a menu with recipes (based upon what we have in the freezer and pantry) for parties, develop an outline for a clueless purple belt (me) to teach a BJJ class when my professor is sick, putting together periodized training schedules for my kids, etc. An LLM is only as good as its input and the input for ChatGPT is the breadth of the internet, which is full of BS nonsense. It's a great time saver when ultimate accuracy isn't necessary.

OkSt also has an 84 dual unbeaten streak.
I see Iowa with an 84 dual unbeaten streak. After their 69 dual win streak they had a tie followed by 7 wins in 2011-2012 followed by 7 wins to start 2011-2012 before losing to OSU.

What years did OSU did OSU hit 84?

The longest I found for them was their 76 match streak from 1937-1951. It started and ended with a lose.

Their 1996-1999 streak ended with a tie followed by 3 wins before a lose. That put them at 73 unbeaten.

Third bullet point under “Oklahoma State wrestling stats, record”

  • Oklahoma State is tied with Iowa for the longest unbeaten win streak. Both teams have won or tied 84 duals in a row. The Cowboys set this record from 1959-1966 under head coach Myron Roderick.

I also found this list, don’t know when it was created:

Thank you.

I missed that one. That OSU streak had two ties in the run to Iowa's one tie, so for a tie breaker I would go with ties and Iowa's fewer ties breaks the tie. For me.

I chased down some numbers.

In PSU's current 75 dual winning streak PSU has outscored its opponents 34.4 - 6.9 on average, for an average margin of victory of 27.5

In Iowa's 69 dual winning streak Iowa outscored its opponents 33.0 - 6.7 on average, for an average margin of victory of 26.3

Iowa's Streak
  • Ten of Iowa's wins came against non-D1 schools, but they did beat PSU three times during the streak (and once more during the 84 dual unbeaten streak).
  • Their favorite punching bag was Minnesota. They beat the Golden Gophers five times in the streak (and a sixth in the unbeaten streak).
  • Their biggest margin of victory was a 57-0 win over Cornell College.
  • They also beat Iowa Lakes and Iowa Central 52-0.
  • There were a whopping 19 shutouts during the streak (and a 20th during the unbeaten streak).

Penn State's Streak
  • PSU's favorite punching bags are Maryland and Ohio State whom they have beaten six times each.
  • PSU's largest margins of victory came over Edinboro and Michigan State (55-0).
  • PSU has had 12 shutouts during the streak.

I have not looked at the OSU streak yet because scoring rules and numbers of weights varied significantly making comparisons on scores pretty meaningless.

Thank you for this. You consistently provide information I routinely think " I should sit down and dig into this" but never find the time.

Good God I am such a child. The part of all that great information you provided that makes me smile the biggest is Maryland and Ohio State being equivalents in the eyes of Cael's machine.

I won't rest until PSU wrestling has the longest winning streak of any sport in history.

Well, we still have our work cut out for us boys. Nothing to celebrate in 2026, it's a long road to get to 556.

According to AI

Team sports:

Basketball (NCAA Men's Home Court): Kentucky Wildcats (129 wins, 1943-1955).

High School Football:
De La Salle High School: 151 consecutive wins (1992-2003).

Individual

Jahangir Khan (Squash): 555 consecutive wins (1981-1986).

Esther Vergeer (Wheelchair Tennis): 470 matches, 250 sets (retired 2013).

Wheelchair tennis, known for incredibly exciting 2 and 3 shot rallies!

Speaking of records.

Las Vegas has opened a line on when PJ Duke will break Jason Nolf's career 60 pins record.

The smart money is on his junior year!!!
