Bad last goal by Duke. I thought for sure he was in the crease.
He was, but a totally stupid rule that only clock violations are reviewable. A joke. This is for a championship. WTF???
This is almost as kosher as Big10 refereeing! Clearly the goal should not have been allowed. Was really not even close!
I don't even know the damn rules and I immediately yelled "He's in the crease!" When it wasn't called, I just assumed that the crease must be the inner circle, not the outer. But no, it was just another screw job by officials against a PSU team. No way both of those guys failed to see the foot not only on the line, but inside it.
Tambroni should not take the high road. He needs to blast the NCAA for not having video replay in a national semi final game.
Yes. This really has me confused. First of all, let me say I don't follow PSU Lax but took my 16-year-old daughter to cheer on the Lions, in part because she loves lax. And it was one of the most enjoyable sporting events I've ever been to. But I was at a loss as to why PSU didn't do anything to attack when they were a man up. They just passed the ball around the perimeter. And then they ended up with a shot clock violation. I'm guessing there was strategy involved but it just didn't make any sense. I get waiting for the last shot (although I don't think they could have run the clock all the way down) but not with the man advantage. You have to go for it there, right? Just didn't get it. But what an awesome game!
Falling into the crease isn't a violation, if it happens after the shot, and the shooter doesn't step in the crease during the shot. (By comparison, in girl's LAX, falling into the crease after the shot would be a violation, unless the shooter was pushed in by a defender.)
The violation by the Duke player was in stepping into the crease before the shot. That should be noticed and called by the refs, and it would be a turnover.
The refs messed up, and then the NCAA rules (which everyone in college plays under) screwed PSU in not allowing the situation to be corrected.
So mad about the ridiculous outcome, and glad that the Collegeville Italian Bakery is calling the NCAA out. BTW, this is a fantastic place to eat in that part of Montco.
Just once I would like to see a significant rule change occur BEFORE it is Penn State that gets screwed.
Men’s lax is notoriously slow to modernize its game. Only a few years ago, the shot clock didn’t exist. Then for awhile the shot clock was only put on a team at the discretion of the refs. Women’s lax isn’t much better.
But this particular rule about a crease violation not being reviewable is easily foreseen as being a problem. Just a dumb look for lacrosse.

The Duke goal in OT was criminal, but let's not forget about the end of regulation. PSU was a man up for 30 seconds, starting with about 70 seconds left in regulation. Thought the PSU offense was dynamite almost all game, but they puckered in this crucial situation - did not even get off a shot in the man up situation or in the subsequent even-strength situation.
Missed a golden opportunity to take the lead with very little time remaining.

FWIW, I doubted the video as soon as I viewed it, as I've been to a lot of events at the Linc and that's not at all what it looks like (it has seats, not benches; no wall of the stadium looks like what is in the video). Plus, the security guards that are used at the Linc don't wear black police-officer outfits, and when any type of incident breaks out at the Linc, the guards appear in hordes.
