I wouldn't mind a good number transferring out. I want to see if its missed talent evaluation or coaching/development that is the reason that for the lack of development at WR.I expect a number of the WRs to portal out - it's clear that the staff wants to bring in different WRs and there is not enough room for all of them.
Driver, Ivey, Johnson are three I think most likely to transfer out.
No. Riley Thompson was/is our starter. Was he our starter?
Was he our starter?
No. Riley Thompson was/is our starter.
No. Riley Thompson was the starting punter. Bacchetta was highly ranked out of high school, but somewhat inconsistent in practice. Thompson came to PSU via the portal after last season. He has one more year available, so it appears that he's likely to return.
No one really does. Thanks - I honestly did not know.
I had to think hard about his name. Just knew that he was an Aussie. Thanks - I honestly did not know.
Donate now, as that lazy river isn't going to build itself.
Not one cent from me until a Nap Room is built (Midnighter's Nighty Night Nappy Time Room)....
The BWICAC laughs at the 85 scholarship limit. The math may have changed a bit since I last took a close look, but:
Just to accommodate the true freshman signees, PSU will need to process a dozen or so kids out. So that is more or less the baseline. I expect that if you took a close look at the other "Top 20" type programs in the country, you could find fairly similar numbers.
Now, that figure is VERY much in flux. To get an idea of how volatile that number is:
1 - Any kids who take their "COVID" year would mean another has to be processed (there are several candidates there, including a couple of offensive linemen who have been regular players)
2 - Every kid PSU brings in through the portal, means, obviously, another to process out
3 - Every kid who leaves early for NFL means one less kid to be processed (should be at least a handful of those)
Trying to come up with anything resembling a true, specific number is a Fool's Errand, of course. The number will bounce up (and down) day to day. But the number is going to be big (as it is at many programs). Each year, college football becomes more and more like the NFL - except for the teams not having to pay the players.
The days when many fans complained of 'SEC Schools Processing Kids" are child's play compared to today. Obviously.

Does the team provide woobies or do you have to bring your own? There has been a nap room in Lasch for a few years.
They use it until 11:55AM for noon kickoffs. There has been a nap room in Lasch for a few years.
That’s cold. Funny, but cold. They use it until 11:55AM for noon kickoffs.
Clock in there must be slow. Some days seems more like 12:20, 12:25They use it until 11:55AM for noon kickoffs.
Ivey is only a redshirt freshman. Maybe too early to give up on him.I expect a number of the WRs to portal out - it's clear that the staff wants to bring in different WRs and there is not enough room for all of them.

How many kids "portal", and then go back to their old school? I really don't know (I do think a PSU kid did that a few years back - was it the DB Wade?, I can't recall for sure/ But I'd think the number is a pretty small percentage)The thing about the portal is many kids getting advice from their "councilors" to use portal to understand their NIL value and possibly renegotiate their way back to their original school.

It's never too early to give up with this crowd.Ivey is only a redshirt freshman. Maybe too early to give up on him.
Yeah, there is this 5 year old. Hasn't committed yet, but when he does, under the bus we will throw! It's never too early to give up with this crowd.
Didn’t Townley do it last year?It was Wade. And it's apt to say he was part of the "small" percentage. I think he was only in the portal a short time. Nobody offered that was head and shoulders above PSU.
Yes but the dynamic is different now. Most of these kids have nil managers. The portal can reset their baller outer it can be used to get a real playing opportunity. I think three higher profile players are trying to reset their valueHow many kids "portal", and then go back to their old school? I think someone else appropriated that cocktail name! That could be a wicked cocktail name also
Another metric that these players should look at is the % who don't get a scholarship anywhere, or who wind up moving down to G5 or D2. The COVID year created a continuing problem - at least it will be gone in 2025. This extra year squeezed out the HS recruits. If you look at the numbers from a macro standpoint, any school that is using the portal and does not want to "process" player out, would have to limit their HS class to around 15-20 per year.According to NCAA data , only 5% of players who enter the transfer portal withdraw or return to their original school .
