He was pretty good already. What he got was better conditioning and he became tougher. That is pretty much what they offer, if you can endure and survive our grind we will give you world class conditioning and make you tougher. Whatever wrestling skills a portal guy brings with him, that is what he is leaving with.
They don't even train that hard anymore actually nowhere near what they've in the past.

Asking Cael for help had to hurt.

I posted after nationals that they (Iowa) wrestled as though they were fresh this year. That hasn't been the case for a long time.

Every kid says NCAA champ so many at Penn st didn't achieve goals either 🤷. Being a champion isn't easy guys just because you've a bunch doesn't mean it's easy

Who said its easy? I also don't hate Iowa. Its a fact that Penn State develops champions and higher placing AAs far better than Iowa. You're learning some nice goal post moving from your buddy MSU on your home board.

Buchanon got much better because the weight cleared out.
Buchanon was 3rd in 2024 and the two in front of him, Brooks and Hidlay graduated.

Iowa is so good at developing talent that Penn State has won all ten weight classes more recently than them and Iowa hasn't won a full field tournament since current recruits were in diapers.

The fans know it also judging by no one showing up for duals as attendence has fallen off a cliff. Coralville's attendence for wrestling is even worse. Penn State, Oklahoma State, VaTech... have wrestlers/recruits at Final X and on U23 and U20 teams. Iowa has a few grads they can pull for all their eggs are really in the Lee basket since Woods thanked them for the money then got the hell out of town to a real RTC as fast as he could.

Not what happened with Woods at all actually.
