Collins couldn't hit the broadside of a barn last night, like the shots were not even close to going in. Let the Mountain Mamba fire at will !!
Starting 5 (if Lowe is good to go)
Lowe
Oweh
Noah
Mo
Garrison

I was expecting to be a bit more happy with the tean as a whole, but im hoping its just jitter combined with scrimmage setting...
I tend you to agree with you. I was expecting more, but it is difficult to really judge much in what appeared to be a half-speed, half-hearted scrimmage. Clearly, we will be a fine team, but I am not absolutely certain we will be better than last year's team ... when it was 100% healthy. I certainly hope so ...

Can someone explain Purdues lofty preseason ranking? I don’t see it.
Sweet 16 team that brings back 4 starters including projected top PG in NCAA. Three of them will be seniors, and you have three rising sophomores whose roles and production should increase. Added some nice pieces, two veteran transfers who've produced at lower level who will only need to be called on as supporting pieces, and added a nice international guard. Are they truly number 1? Dunno, but that's what people are looking at.

Considering 38 of the 40 NCAA champions since the field expanded to 64 have consisted of at least three starters who returned from the prior season, Houston and Purdue would stand out as likely champions. The remaining two champs of those 40? They returned two starters each: 2012 Kentucky and 2015 Duke. Roster continuity matters. That’s why Purdue could be destined, but all rules are made to be broken eventually.

So you don't think they have any value? Its rare to have this high level of an exhibition game so determining its predictive value is hard. Im sure there will be plenty to take away from it, regardless of your irrelevant annoyance.
I was referring to the blue/white game. The Purdue game will be different. But still not relevant

So yes this basic means #9 is not going to happen this incoming season because we are return one starter?

It isn’t necessarily whether we return starters but whether our starters are returnees. If we have Oweh and Garrison starting along with Noah or Chandler, we would meet the criteria. Only problem is those aren’t our best players from what I can tell. I don’t think it’s likely we win a title this year based on the data. I’d love to make a final four and be very good, but return much our core and be dominant next year.
That said, it’s all math and that’s all it is. No 16 had beaten a one in the NCAAT until a few years ago and now it has happened twice.

TLDR - It’s very unlikely for us to end the season as champs based on the historical data, but I’d love to be wrong.

That may be true. However, the transfer portal has completely changed the game. Those stats are basically null and void now. JMO.

Plus they have size to match our size. They are legit.
I do think we have better athletes all across the board and they will be the difference.

Obviously we gotta make shots.

Yes, only two 16 seeds upset 1 seeds happens after 2015

Before Virginia were beaten, stats showed #16 had no chance to make upset

Records are set to be broken

I feel like last years team was way ahead of this years team at this point. But hopefully this team has a higher ceiling.

You should, they have TKR who will probably be an All-American, the best PG in college who could be NPOY, got Cluff in the portal to solidify their frontline, a four year starting shooter in Loyer. They got a highly regarded guard from Europe in Mayer.

They have the freshman class from last year who got valuable minutes like CJ Smith. They also got the A10’s leading three point shooter who is a great fit for the way they play. A 7’4” center who got hurt two games into last year. Played well on the U19 team. We all know Painter did well with his last huge big man. They also have 3-4 guys who redshirted and were 70’s in the nation ranked big men and guards. Painter develops teams like old school somehow but he finds guys willing to do it and play into their system.

They lost in one of the best games in the tourney to get to another final 4, which I think they would have won the E8 game after beating Houston. They are gonna be a really tough and well coached team.

I think the op has the correct starting lineup for now. But I think BG will have to step it up to stay ahead of Moreno; of course JQ starts when he's ready.
