“Short sighted”…

It’s weird to me because that’s basically how the Cats shut him down - the sandwich. Painter should have seen it coming.

I wonder if they thought it was a gimme and spent their time preparing for a Sunday game.
No Doubt, at least emotionally.

Purdue just couldn't snap out of their funk the entire game...

I haven't seen a team go so cold so fast since NU in the first half of the second PSU game. I thought only NU suffered %$#@ like this.

Stunning upset. Congrats to FDU for winning such a huge game.

Edey had one shot in the last 12 minutes—against the smallest team in the country. Painter should be charged with malpractice.
He got his tips from the BIG COY CCC who inexplicably refuses to get Big Matt the ball within 6 feet of the hoop!

Are you really comparing Nicholson and Edey? Edey's offensive game is miles ahead of Big Matt, but I am hoping he can get there before he is done at NU.

Painter made no adjustments. How about changing the Purdue lineup and pressing FDU.
Agree that Painter should have adjusted but the players choked. That is probably on Painter as well but they could have still won without too much drama if they just hit 25 percent of their wide open 3s and not had routine passes bounce off their face leading to a layup for the other team. Gillis had a wide open 3 in the last 10 minutes and shot it a foot short. That’s hard to do at that level. After that, he refused to shoot and they just stopped guarding him. He’s a senior. Somebody needed to step up and hit open 3’s.

Edey said in an interview after the game that they double teamed him front and back the entire game. Sounds like Purdue didn't really have a plan for that and weren't prepared for such a short team to limit his effectiveness. Short sighted game plan really. Purdue should have been prepared to play a game that didn't rely on Edey just to keep him rested for the next game. Short sighted IMO.
You have to have the personnel to adjust to it and that is not the way that team is put together, Did you see how badley they did when they kept switching Edey out in other games because ... They fell apart. They are constructed to play one kind of game in in the dance, you need to be able to play against various types of teams. They just are not.

It is probably how everyone that beat them did. Rutgers, us, Indiana twice.

People kept talking about their guards being freshman. It is more like their guards are terrible which means they are not being coached correctly or they don’t have the talent. How after a season of B1G play can you not be able to consistently feed Eady? FD had one day to prepare and they flustered the Purdue backcourt.
They are true Frosh and have not had time to learn to develop other aspects of their games, You can deal with having one in that situation but really hard with both starting guards. And neither one is a Shifino
