Purdue no QB sneak

Purdue down 6 points with 2:40 left and has 4th and 3 inches at midfield. They run shotgun and hand off on a slow-developing run up the middle and get stuffed. I just never understand why any team wouldn't run a QB sneak from under center in that situation.
