Pope says Lowe was back shooting yesterday and they will keep him out of live contact for about another week. In a follow-up question comparing Lowe's shoulder injury to Butler's last year, Pope says Butler battled pain every day to try and get to a healthy point but says Lowe was pain free pretty quickly.

I'm still excited that the Cal era is behind the program. He did some really great things but towards the end it felt like the program was pulling a lot of dead weight.
I agree but his last team record was better than Popes first. Pope had access to double the money .
There isn’t a single UK fan that would trade Popes first year for Cals last. Both a three seed. One made the sweet sixteen. One had the most top 15 wins in the history of the program. The same guy coached both of the above.

Pope also only had about 15 minutes to throw a team together. He also actually beat ranked teams and got us to the sweet 16, something Cal hadn't done in several years.
I just hope we have a close game. Both teams are gonna play well I assume. Purdue has smith, a guard who is arguably the best right now in the country at that position. We've been so used to forwards and post players controlling the game....this year I think will be different.
Pope had limited time though and most top tier recruits had already committed. Don’t discredit what he did in essentially a matter of weeks. I’ll take Pope and his mentality of UK first over the used car salesman any day. UK lacked athleticism last year and that wasn’t by design. Im convinced with no injuries he still would have made a deep run last year. Not to mention he got us back to the SS for the first time in many years, something Cal was incapable of doing the last part of his time here.
Basically going in without two starters and I still believe they’ll play exceptionally well and possibly beat Purdue.
I hope so, it’s gonna be tough without our starting guard and Center though.
Oh definitely, we have the deepest SG-SF rotation in CBB IMO, with Oweh, Aberdeen, Williams, Diobaute, just those four alone are an absolute load, then toss in Johnson, Noah, Chandler, it gets crazy, quick! Some of these guys will have to play some PF, my biggest concern, overall post play and interior defense. Though UK is going to be an extremely difficult team to guard, especially if it’s a high scoring game. PG is a concern, for the season, believe we’ll be fine with Jalen likely to be ready in a week or so would be nice to have more depth at that spot.
Jasper gonna have to player really well and Aberdeen needs to shine.
Believe Aberdeen will be more than ready, though I honestly have zero clue what to expect from JJ, he may absolutely ball out or be completely lost out there, he’s a great unknown so early in the season on how he’ll respond.
Sybau. Cal had the best talent in the country and took them to zero post season wins. Pope was left with nothing and slapped a team together in like a week and made them a title contender when healthy. We were plagued with injuries and still made the sweet 16, while also beating the most top 15 teams in history.
Agree, his overall record wasn’t great, though he had some epic wins and showed a true ability to create a cohesive and positive atmosphere for the program.
Worried about what Kaufman-Renn is going to do to our post. He’s seriously good.
Definitely, I am more so hoping he plays very well to show he will be ready sooner than we may think. I believe he was underrated at the end of his career and will be very good later in the year. I’m hoping he turns out like Maxey did. Kinda like he could be great, but comes out on fire and doesn’t turn back.
