A lot depends upon injuries, especially with the offensive line. And Purdue is a bit of a mystery this week. Will the firing of their coach cause chaos and demoralization, or will it galvanize them and unite them?

There is also the "looking ahead to Wisconsin" possibility.

None of it matters. We are a good team, Purdue stinks, and we want payback.

I think the coach's firing will have very little to do with the performance on the field. Purdue has some players. They will play for a while. If Nebraska can get up early, I think they win going away. Purdue's rush D is really bad.

Injuries on the oline have me concerned...but, not to the point where I see Purdue giving us a scare. I will go 35-17 good guys

They put up 35 on Iowa and 34 on ILL (albeit in OT). They can move the ball. D played well last week and hopefully that will continue into this week. But Purdue is capable of putting up two or three touchdowns on us if we lose contain and/or turn the ball over a couple of times (or get another punt blocked). On the other hand, they have given up points to teams whose Olines surely aren't on the same level as our patchwork OLine. So, 45-24 (but much tighter if we have more than one TO).

Iowa was up 42-14 in the 4th when Iowa's starters came out of the game. They scored 21 points way too fast on our 2nd team defense in garbage time.

We're beat up with injuries on the OL especially. We will probably play 3 walk-ons there, and If I were Purdue, I would stack 8,9 in the box and dare Tommy to beat us. I expect a much tougher win than most here: 34-24

I'm still surprised they gave Iowa such a difficult game. What's going on over in Iowa City?

Thought we would beat Illinois conveniently but didn't. We should blow out Purdue and more than likely they will put up 55+ passes.

Hopefully Ryker Fyfe gets in early in the 3rd so we can have Tommy healthier for Wisconsin next week and I'm sure Fyfe would like a shot again from last years game.

Man, I would love it if we could put these guys away early and let TA sit out most of the second half

Don't let the final score fool you. Most of those 35 points were garbage time scores and 2 or 3 of them were against Iowa's 2nd string.

The QB can throw the ball given time. They should cancel this game for humane reasons -no head coach and bad players

So which is it, 2 or 3?
Iowa dominated that game. Were up 42-14 with 11 minutes left. 2nd team came in on both sides of the ball and Purdue kept first team in. Much to our disliking, Purdue scored two TDs and the offense ran 3 straight plays for two possessions. At 42-28 the first team defense came back in and Desmond King took a pick 6 back to make it 49-28. Purdue then scored against the second team defense with 17 seconds left on a play resembling Brandon Reilly's acrobatic catch against Indiana.

So to answer your question, it was 3.
