Ok, living out in NWI in the winter, I decided to travel down to Purdue to watch the game tomorrow. I haven't been on this campus since the 90's and I have never attended a bball game. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom to share? Parking, food, etc. And is Purdue on EST or CST?

Always a fan of Scotty's Brewhouse. Good eats. Good drinks. Affordable. Lots of TVs.

Purdue is on EST. There's a parking garage a few blocks southeast of the arena on, this should be easy to remember, Northwestern Avenue. Pretty sure it is free to park in after 5:00. There is a bar on the walk from that parking garage to the arena called The Stacked Pickle that's pretty good.

Thanks for the words of advice. Looks like that garage and the Pickle will be the pregame plan. Go NU - let's get that big road victory. Look for me on TV - I will be in a NU sweatshirt with my super hot girlfriend next to me ;)

Not after the Lindsey news. In fact, if this goes south fast, we might just have to sit in the stands and make out like a couple of college kids...
That will drive a lot of people away. Should clear out the joint.

Consider yourself warned. She looks like a young Lara Craft, and me, well bald, bearded and beautiful - and look way too old for her ;)

So be on the lookout for Angelina Jolie sitting with this guy:

Decided to fly down there for the game. Purdue has their own little airstrip. No booze for me but still exciting to watch these guys face adversity - and grab a bite to eat at the local pub. Call it the bball moose - weather says I have a tailwind ;)

Will Lara Craft be your co-pilot? Heard she's pretty good with the joystick.

Pay attention Bob. You're on a date but a basketball game might break out.

Also, don't catch mono.

I thought you were married. What happened? Did you go "Mike Nelson" and cut the airhose on your wife? (from Seahunt...maybe this dates me...one of my favorite shows as a little kid)

I was first row behind media section. That damn tech really frustrated me. That said, haas is a beast. Swanigan is overrated. And tap was walking around in street shoes, no limp, he plays next game.

Nice safe flight home. Lara had fun regardless and the pickle has good food.

Good night.

Deep thoughts by premature Bob. Swanigan goes for 24 points and 16 rebounds and he describes his performance as overrated. Weak basketball evaluation skills on display again. He is the leader for Big 10 Player of the Year. But draft experts have Swanigan as being drafted no. 44 and 45 which means a middle of the second round pick which means he is not overrated by the real draft experts.

Engaged. She called it off last May... :(

But better off in many ways now

You are better off. If you had gotten married, no way you could just take off in the middle of the week to catch a college hoops game, flying your own plane down. Even for you, that was pretty cool... with favorite blow up doll in tow, no less. ;) Live the dream, Bobby.

Gee, son, sounds like the experts agree with me. His performance last night reflected poor defense. Still, each time we swamped him, he turned it over. Tell you what, you can have swanigan. I like haas, he is a giant and thick man.

Overrated....??? Are you serious? There are very few people with that level of talent that play that hard consistently. He had a very quiet 24 and 16. Think about that for a second. He does turn it over a bit too much, but to say he is overrated is just crazy. I don't think Collins would agree. Or any opposing coach for that matter

Subjective opinion. I said above, I think he took great advantage of a pretty down team. I like Haas over Swanigan. Let's see what the NBA thinks in June.

And I don't think he could even swim.

There was a story about a guy that cut the airhose, or other drowned, his significant other in Australia. He returned to the boat and said a shark took her. They soon found her and he made an argument of crime of passion. AUS refused to extradite because he was eligible for and her family wanted the death penalty. AUS prosecuted him for the lesser crime of passion charge resulting in a few years in prison and seemingly a new life in AUS...

But glades, I had trained her to become an instructor before we parted ways and she is Russian, so I'm not confident that I would have swam away from such a battle intact... :)

I understand. My former girlfriend/dive partner was a well-muscled German woman who would cut off my 'hose' if I stepped out of line.

Guess that makes swanigan a lottery pick and haas a second round journeyman. Time will tell. I may wrong, I just might be right....

No, wrong again. Swanigan went for 26 points and 10 rebounds on the road against the Big 10's first place team in Maryland. Swanigan outplayed Trimble who is his main competition for Big POY. Haas scored 10 points and 4 rebs and was largely neutralized by a backup center on Maryland named Cherkovsky. This means that he can plant himself in the middle v. 6'8"-6'9", 230 lbs. Pardon because he is 7'2", 300 lbs. But against similar sized guys like 7'0" tall Cherkovsky he struggles.
