can anyone answer this question is Decker so far behind Conrad at center that they couldn't move Conrad to tackle and decker to center so you have some experience at tackle instead of using a true freshman

What's the deal with Decker then? Attitude and work ethic? The dude is plenty big enough. I just don't get how undeveloped the talent on our line is among the scholarship players. Last year we heard how they almost burned Boe Wilson's redshirt because they were high on his talent and we had injuries. This year? He is on the depth chart but plays rarely, if ever. Tanner Farmer was very highly recruited and we were all happy when we got him. And yet he is a 50/50 player: good play, bad play, good play, bad play....He's not. Cav gave a coach speak answer when asked this question. Something like we don't want to move Conrad because he's earned the right to be our center and we don't want two guys in new spots.
I thought so too. So why the hell not play him?Decker looked very good in his cameo appearance.
Thanks for the quote but that sounds like something either a politician or drunk would say, I'm guessing they must not practice during the week. I'm with most people cav needs to go the single wing and quick kicks are long gone time has passed him byHe's not. Cav gave a coach speak answer when asked this question. Or we could at least try that first and see if it works before burning Jaimes redshirt.I try to give coaches the benefit of the doubt. After all, they are with these players every day. But come on. We are talking about playing a true freshman, rather than have Conrad slide over. I am sorry, that is just asinine
That's my feeling Conrad play tackle last fall when knivel was hurt give it a try so according to cav decker won't play till 2019 since Conrad is a jrOr we could at least try that first and see if it works before burning Jaimes redshirt.
I feel like Cav wants to prove a point that you don't play backups and that starters need to gel. We got on him pretty hard for good reason and he is just a stubborn ***. Decker looked good so he took him so he wouldn't have to hear it. Honestly, if MR couldnt figure out how bad some of his assistants were through his career, how will that change now? I don't think there is a chance it will. I wish I could find the quote on Riley from a few months back but I can't. Not word for word here but went something like this, " I fell in love with the screen game because it saved our qb/offense whom got beat up badly the year prior". Think about that, how could he not figure out Cav sucked then? Why would he old on to Banker for so long? Banker didn't cone here and just start sucking.I thought so too. So why the hell not play him?

Well, from the sounds of it, Conrad must not have been communicating well either. Looks like there was a lot of confusion going on.Cav said yesterday I believe that one of the biggest problems with the line on Saturday was poor communication. Communication starts with the center. Maybe Decker wasn't handling that part of the job very well? I have no idea, but it might partially explain Cav's position on that.

The fact that Riley made changes at other position coaches says he can figure out who the bad assistants are... see Bruce Read, Mark Banker, and Hank Hughes to name a few...I feel like Cav wants to prove a point that you don't play backups and that starters need to gel. Although I give credit to Riley for making the tough call on Banker and Read to a much lesser extent, Cavanaugh is not going anywhere in fact I think Langsdorf donated a kidney to his wife. I believe the staff changes are done Riley will go with what he hasThe fact that Riley made changes at other position coaches says he can figure out who the bad assistants are... see Bruce Read, Mark Banker, and Hank Hughes to name a few...
If he is still our coach going into next season, it's not a stretch to think that he will make a change at the OLine coach.
You may be right... if he does, it will be to his own demise.Although I give credit to Riley for making the tough call on Banker and Read to a much lesser extent, Cavanaugh is not going anywhere in fact I think Langsdorf donated a kidney to his wife. I think you are probably right, I'm just seriously PO'd at him. While I don't disagree with much of your post, I do disagree with the aspect that Cav will hold players back and only play starters to prove his point.
Instead of this, I think he just isn't very good at developing players....or his job in general for that matter.
And, so yes, ultimately that does fall on Riley.
Do you really think that was MR?The fact that Riley made changes at other position coaches says he can figure out who the bad assistants are... see Bruce Read, Mark Banker, and Hank Hughes to name a few...

I honestly think people can get caught up in their pride and not actually realize what they are doing but you are probably right. So your theory is that a football coach cares more about proving a point and not having to hear it from the fans than he does about getting good o-line play and winning football games?
Honestly?

Doesn't matter what I think. Riley either actively sought changes or allowed for changes to happen. I wasn't there so I can't answer your question, other than to say changes were made to our coaching staff and Riley was on board. That qualifies as recognizing the bad coaching and needing to make changes.Do you really think that was MR?
Good points here... whether Riley stays after this season or not is up in the air. Unless things change quickly, I don't think Cav's status should be. I know I'm not alone here, just sayin'...Not a stretch. But, considering every year we have to talk about how we are so poorly coached at some positions makes me question why anybody would have faith in Riley eventually getting it right. He has made some nice hires, if he's here long enough I think Diaco will work out. But, the offense is his baby and Langsdorf/Cav is all he knows. This was the year where it ALL came together for the offense because Riley/Langsdorf had their man under center! Now Riley is off telling the media "I don't know what to think."

Agree that if he doesn't succeed the only place he's going is retirement in Oregon. I just think he would cut Cav if he's still the coach and the OLine continues to struggle.Riley has stated on record this is his "last adventure"- that's why in my opinion he brought the Beavers staff (not all I know) with him
