BIG gets to many seeds at some weights no way do I think Gabe should have gotten in the tourney but he is an iowa kid!
Gabe placed 9th at big 10s the weight took 10. So he automatically qualified. Big 10 definitely deserves all the allocations they get . If you look at the % of guys who AA that are from the big 10 the #s actually show they deserve more allocations

This has nothing to do with the OP, but since the topic of allocations has come up again. Why was there chatter about the Big 10 being weak this year at 197, yet it was one of only 2 weights in the conference that received 10 allocations? Thoughts anyone?

They did have an apparent quality portal replacement for their portal champ. Darn wuss was overly concerned for his longterm health and refused that darn shot in his neck.
He was at a local club wrestling like a week after being dismissed from Iowa

The BIG is constantly the winner of the AA/allocation rate with almost 1/2 of all AA last season. The ACC is always on the other end of the spectrum because as a conference, they play the allocation game better than anyone. They hit a ton of opens to get their win %s up. Keuter is the 8 at 285 and didn't earn an allocation as hit didn't even hit their own Soldier Salute while 16 Jimmy Mullen hit the Southeast, Keystone, and Southern Scuffle to earn an allocation which lead to 31 Brenan Morgan from Virginia getting an autobid at 11-10

There are a lot more D1 programs in the east than the Midwest. As a result, eastern wrestlers have more opportunities to wrestle D1starters and backups at the opens they attend compared to the guys in the Midwest. Thus, higher number of matches and winning percentage versus D1 competition compared to midwestern teams.

Yep imagine Bob really wanted him to take 1/2 his money and then not compete
Don't know. I do know that the impact Nicolls has had on the program is from my view, negative.
Just an outsider looking in, it appears someone was driving the push to get back on the mat or else, and the or else led to a f you moment.
I am sure you have a much better insight than I do. From the outside looking in though, to me it appears a wealthy narcissist has created an unnecessary environment of chaos.

There's the Michigan State Open but they really need another backups level tournament in Ohio or Indiana so Indiana, Purdue, MSU can beat up on some MAC backups to up the allocations and teams like Iowa can't have their starters duck their own tournament.

PA has 2 in Edinboro, 1 in Clarion, 2 in Lock Haven, F&M, Shorty Hitchcock,Bloomsburg, Wilkes, Keystone and I'm probably missing some. That's a lot of places to get the win % up.

Why not? It worked for Jacori Teemer and Kyle Parco.
They competed . Parco was hurt at NCAA . Teemer hurt early in the year and never got back to form. Guys aren't always gonna pan out look at Williams. If Bob was in control like many here think then why wasn't the $ guy Williams wrestling at big 10?
