Pythons on Loose in Georgia

"Animal control says you don't have to run from or kill the snakes."

I beg to differ. If I saw one they or I would be history.

Shouldn't somebody be serious about making these exotic snakes illegal in this country?. I mean damn all we need is a bunch of cross bred snakes roaming around. Will snakes cross-breed for instance any kind of constrictor with what we have here, milk snakes, copperheads, etc. Or is that impossible?

Will Kentucky cold weather kill them? Couldn't they still survive underground or any warm spot for that matter?

Don't kill any snake. Snakes have a purpose. Venomous snakes are really important since researchers are finding more ways to treat diseases with snake venom, let alone venomous snake bites. Non venomous snakes help control rodent population.

OP if you ran across a Python, neither of you would be dead, well maybe you from heart failure for running so damn fast. You would be Audi 5000, quit acting like you would try to apprehend the snake. You and I both know, you are not trying to battle a Python.

You can't be serious. How is a Python going to hurt you from a distance? Capturing one is risky, but not unheard of.

Yeah I mean nobody would be scared if they ran across a Python, happens all the time. Harmless, probably just pick him up and take him home to Little Johnny or Becky Sue. No need for a tank or anything, just let him roam around your house.

Farm them. Python meat imported from Burma sells for $40+ a pound at places like Jungle Jims in Cinci and online. Some enterprising young redneck needs to start a ranch and undercut them. Python makes great tacos.

They are relatively harmless! You're just afraid of all snakes, apparently.

Except in Florida where the Burmese pythons are taking over the Everglades and killing off native species.

I've never understood fear of snakes, but I know that comes from growing up in Kentucky and wading through creeks since I learned to walk as a wee young lad.

Non-venomous snakes here in Georgia are protected by federal law. I've had to move several King (eats venomous snakes) and Rat (eats rodents) snakes from my front porch and garage to other parts of my property. Just lay a stick or something across the back of it's neck and then grab it behind the neck so it can't strike you (even non-venomous snakes will strike and rattle their tales as a defense mechanism)

Haven't run across any pythons yet.

I just saw a statistic that snakes kill approx 90000 people per year - damn. Obviously that is almost all from venomous snakes but still a huge number.

Apparently due to the fact that India, SE Asia and Africa are so remote and have such poor healthcare. They have no idea what the real number is hence the estimates of up to 90000. Even if it's only 10000 or 20000 still a huge and surprising number.

Black people hate snakes

Throw a bunch of snakes at rioters and it'll be "feet don't fail me now" time
