Actually, the new Duke coached that replaced Elko, Manny Diaz, has known Maalik Murphy since 8th grade and been a mentor to him. So since Duke's starter is portalling to Notre Dame, it is a pretty clear path for Murphy to start and I imagine Diaz made that clear.

Backup played quite a bit during Leonard's injury and did well, but I guess he is designated back up.

The backup is a true freshman from Gaffney. Grayson Loftis. He started the last 5 games I think and did well. It’s just hard to pass up on kids like Murphy with the physical attributes he has.
