Stoops and Gran have been very careful to publicly stand behind Mac Jones' commitment. There hasn't been any high profile recruitment of other quarterbacks, and it's likely that Jones' commitment might have scared off some others too. Stoops accepted Walker Wood as an athlete, and I believe Wood will end up as a safety. No time would be a good time for Jones to decommit, but early June gives Gran and Hinshaw 8 months to recruit other quarterbacks. So it could be worse. It is impossible to predict where Gran will turn. This will be Coach Hinshaw's top project. Most of the top 2017 quarterbacks are already committed. Jairus Grissom, Baron Radcliffe, Jonathon Lewis, Legend Brumbaugh are uncommitted, have good size, and have been linked at some point to Kentucky. Brumbaugh, a walk-on candidate, is Jimmy Brumbaugh's son. Another interesting quarteback would be Kellen Mond from Bradenton, who decommitted from Baylor last week. Maybe Coach Gran has some connections in Bradenton. But it might be someone who blows up in the fall.

One thing that is encouraging is that Darren Hinshaw sure didn't sound down about this last night on his interview with Gabriel. Have to think he already knew of Mac's decision and he couldn't have sounded more upbeat and enthusiastic. I know we get excited about any new coaches just because they are new but this buy and Gran sure do give off a sense that they know what they are doing and can make some kind of difference. So I think I'm comfortable expecting them to find someone they like very much to fill this spot and even more confident that can make them better than their ranking whatever it is going forward.

I wonder if the staff will make a push for 3* QB Tanner Morgan from Ryle HS in Northern KY. He committed to Western Michigan but had offers from UC, UofL and Wake Forest. I know he performed well a numerous camps. Hes got a good arm, good size at 6'1 205lbs and fairly mobile. No question loosing Jones is a huge blow but if we can get Morgan it could ease the blow.

Doubtful. Tanner Morgan is a decent player but not a significant step above Walker Wood. Wood is actually rated higher by Rivals. Hinshaw has 8 months to work on this. When he arrived at Kentucky last January, he evaluated more than 30 uncommitted quarterbacks in 4 weeks and signed Steve Johnson out of College of the Desert. This time Hinshaw has the entire summer and fall. He will probably be looking for summer camp overachievers and quarterbacks who blow up in the fall. Every year there are a few.
