Went to an interview for a job three weeks ago, proceeded by 2 more telephone interviews the next week and two rounds of online testing. Got an email yesterday saying that the last candidate was finishing up their testing, but I was in the top two candidates for the position and I should hear back before the end of the week. Got an email this morning asking if I had time for a quick talk after 2 PM today.

My question is, how likely is a company to call and say you didn't get the job? Should I be expecting ****** news? Or would a company just email me saying I was not chosen for the position?

I have a similar story from a number of years ago. Got a call from the employer late on a Friday afternoon and they left a message. By the time I got around to returning the call they were gone for the day. Waited around all weekend thinking that it was probable I was getting a job offer. After all, why would they call me to tell me someone else got the job? Well, on Monday I talked to them and sure enough they had given the job to someone else. They wanted to call me "personally" to thank me for my interest and to tell me they wished me well. They thought they were doing the nice thing. But I could not have been more pissed.

This is what I am thinking might happen. While it is extremely considerate for the company to take the time to call you, I can see the frustration as well. We shall see.

This is what happened at my current position. After all the interviews and email exchanges, I was asked if I could have a quick meeting around the same time as yours. Had no idea what it was about so I dressed like it was another interview. Ended up being offered the job within 2 minutes of the meeting.

I can see it going both ways. If I was hiring I would not use the words"quick talk" but that's just me. Good luck..hope it works out.

I think it's a good sign to. The way things work in today's world is if they don't want you, you'll hear nothing. Used to be you'd at least get a letter saying thanks but no thanks and good luck. They are at least talking to you. Like I said a good sign.

If the offer is not at least 100K with perks, enjoy your job but kindly GTFO the Paddock. You won't belong here.

Are we talking a minimum of $100k base salary or at least $100k when factoring in base plus bonus possibilities?

Asking for a friend.
