Question about redshirting

So Miller has 3 years to play 2 at DB. The redshirt rule that came into effect last season where a player can play in four games and still maintain a redshirt, does that apply here? If Miller appears in only 4 games this fall, would he still have 2 full years left? With all the seniors we have in the defensive backfield this fall, it would be nice to be able to keep Miller around a few years if possible, but still be able to get some valuable snaps from him this fall (and get him some valuable game experience).

Initially the thought was that this rule would mainly apply to incoming true freshmen. The first-year players could play in up to four games of the season and contribute and develop without burning a RS.

The rule does not discriminate against the number of years spent in a program, so it applies not just to true freshmen but any player who has not participated in more than four games in a single season.

He is a JUCO
20-21 years old. Plus he plays CB.

Some positions redshirting JUCO players can work like OL.
But not at CornerBack. He is either good enough to win the job or he is not.

Thing with Miller is that his size allows him to play all over the field.

This is coming from LSU and Texas A&M.

Miller has the technique to play the position but not the fludity.
Meaning his hips do not allow him to twist and turn at the same speed as the WR.

Great Corners can run with WR without turning around.
So their head is always in position.
The question is can he get his head turned around in time because his fluidity means that his body won't be in position.

Allen is going to disagree with what I say...no matter what I say.
Then it is about the person and not the message.

Stay on topic....Stop trolling your own board. Leave that to Rootmaster and Greggy.

Like I said...
Redshirting Miller?

It is not like OL, QB or DL.
If he is injured or if you are too deep.
Texas did that with John Burt WR last year.
WV needs corners. If Miller can't get on the field at CB this year he never will.
Would be smarter to bring in two CBs that have fluidity next year.

Plus you have the CB from Bluefield in two years coming in.

Yet again TVZ pretends to have his fingers on the recruiting of all college teams. Stay on topic. This was a question thread about the new RS rule and if it's only for freshman. Question was answered.

Quit spinning a thread about your own personal you think you're god on the information of recruiting.

Pride if you want this kind of thread on recruiting. Then start your own thread, or go to the Texass board where you belong.

Did you even read what he wrote.

He was asking about Miller.

Point is if Miller cannot start over what WV had than there is no need to redshirt him because you will need to recruit CBs next year.
Pretty much a wasted scholarship unless Miller can move to S.

Unless Norwood drastically improves Miller should beat him for the position.

If Miller cannot beat Norwood especially since you have a new DB coach and everyone is starting out at the bottom

You won't RS him

So asking if Miller can be Redshirted is not important.

It adds another scholarship for 2021 and keeps a CB that could possibly play off the roster.

Miller was brought in by your previous DB coach because Norwood was at best an average Big 12 CB.

To have a great D especially in the Big 12 you need above average to elite CBs
