Will stadium renovations (turf) be done by start of spring practice?

I know the stadium concourse expansion won't but curious about the turf.

Btw when does spring practice start and when is the spring game? Can we get a countdown clock going?

Only one more week of football and it's just the NFL.

New turf, widened concourse, signage and paint its all just like putting lipstick on a pig(or Herd Fan).

The question should be. When does construction begin on the new state-of-art stadium? IMO

Im given to understand that the turf will be ready by spring practice.

Football season was finished when the NCAA CG was done. The NFL just don't interest me anymore like it once did 10-15 years ago.

This isn't like previous turf replacement jobs. First step is to dig up the concrete crown. Next they have to build a whole new drainage system. Third they have to relay the concrete pad. Then last is laying the actual turf.

From a previous article.
Construction is scheduled to begin as early as Dec. 7 (depending on the football team’s postseason schedule) and completion is expected by June 30, 2016.

I think this was the whole reason they replaced the practice field turf first.

I'd say within 5-7 years you'll begin to notice the case for a new stadium get pitched to the public.

WVU-H would like that land.

I have heard that and it is interesting that the farm out on west run still sits vacant (except for cows) when an acre around that area was selling for $250k even if it's on the side of a hill.

The hospital would have to pay one heck of a lot of $$$,$$$,$$$ to get the stadium, practice facilities, etc. That would be the only way that the WVU Athletic Dept and school would have the MONEY$ for a new stadium.

I still don't see it given WV and the financial difficulties of the state now. That rumor dates back to the early to mid 90s based on a real estate developer I get my tickets through who still owns property bordering that farm area.

One benefit WVU has is the low cost of land acquisition, or perhaps no land acquisition if they already have ownership of property.

For example, if Pitt wants to build a stadium in Oakland, they would probably be facing $75 million (probably much more) just in acquiring the necessary properties - and who knows how much more in demolition and remediation.

We've secured long term revenue, and our stadium is considered old by facilities standards....they need the land, I think it happens. But that's just my opinion.

You will be dead and buried and the stadium will STILL be where it is now. It's a 36 year old stadium........... No offense, BUT, this rumor is total foolishness. How many WVU officials have to trash this rumor before it dies????????????????? Good grief........

eliminating concourse congestion is the first goal of the renovations. you know it's a huge problem if you have attended a big game

Nowhere in my post did i state a rumor. I did make a opinion based statement. I did not in any context use the word(s) "rumor" or "hearsay".

To reiterate IMO (in my opinion) there should be talk (discussion, debate, feasibility study) of a new state-of-art stadium.

Maybe you'll be dead as well before either a new stadium or even a football NC is won. Does not really matter. Besides nothing wrong with a Mountaineer fan desiring one or the other. Odds are low to none for either one.
