Do any of you think Senator Joe Manchin would make for a good President? I know most of you don't like him, and I'm not sure why. I haven't lived in WV for 35 years, so I'm wondering why most of you don't like him. He seems pretty decent whenever I see him doing interviews.

He's middle of the road on his politics. I like that personally. He doesn't seem like an a$$hole, maybe he is....never met him.

No, would not be a candidate I would be excited about for president. I'm fine with him as a senator and believe he represents the state well.

I think Senator is his ceiling. I like the guy myself, think he is sincere and really cares about this state. I do disagree with some of the votes he has cast in the Senate because I don't think he really, truly believes the way he voted but did so to toe the party line. THAT tells me he is a little soft when it comes to standing his ground. I do think he did a great job as governor. Fixing the workers comp mess was probably the best thing he did for this state. The WVU-Marshall series was one of the stupidest things he pulled off.

Joe's a bit pragmatic, but also stubborn. He'd make a decent President in some ways, but frustrating in other ways.

I've always like him, and outside of politics he's fine to hang out with. He'd never survive his own party though.

Stubborn is the best description in the thread.

I went down the river with him when he was the Gov. Very nice guy, personable, relatable. I think he forgets to do the will of his constituents though.

He panders to whatever his party wants. He voted down Amy Coney Barrett.

Was this in a private canoe, just the two of you......????? :joy:
No, private group with Class VI. His boat and ours, but halfway through I rode with him. We ate lunch together and had some discussions about being pilots.

Knew him well from High School and WVU days.......I have always liked him. Last time I ran into him at a WVU game.....we talked about having a few brews at Medowbrook Inn.
